A massive naval training exercise is underway in the Atlantic Ocean. It’s the largest operation of its kind since the fall of the Soviet Union.
The Black Sea Fleet's missile cruiser Moskva is taking part in the exercises. In the late 1990s the ship was nearly scrapped due to economic and political factors.
It will join Admiral Kuznetsov, the only Russian heavy aircraft carrier, and several more anti-submarine cruisers, to complete the training fleet.
The maneuvers include submarine hunting drills, weapons checks, and communication system training.
