At least 1,200 dead as super-typhoon Haiyan rips through Philippines - Red Cross

09.11.2013 01:45

The Red Cross says that more than 1,200 people are confirmed dead as Haiyan, one of the most powerful-ever tropical typhoons, blows through the Philippines. Local authorities earlier put the death toll at nearer 100.

Did the military induce Haiyan with HAARP to acquire acquiescence to TPP? Consider the problem of "global warming". What it ultimately boils down to is an issue of resource management. The TPP is another attack upon the planet and its inhabitants, needlessly misallocating resources for the profiteering of the oligarchs. Often under the veil of a truth an abuser lurks manipulating the truth and siphoning wealth and resources from its implications. Is climate change a convenient veil for weather warfare? I read today that as many as 10,000 may have died in just one area of the Philippines and 1000s are missing across the islands. The odd thing is that the Philippine government has so far only confirmed the deaths of 151 people. I find it hard to reconcile the differences in these reports. I think it's going to take some time before we know for sure want to real numbers are.

• The U.N. World Food Programme is urging Americans to make donations to support its emergency food relief after Typhoon Haiyan. You can donate online or by texting the word AID to 27722 to donate $10.

• The Philippine Red Cross

• To donate to the Salvation Army's Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts, visit its website or text TYPHOON to 80888 to donate $10 and reply YES to confirm your donation. The organization uses 100% of all disaster donations in support of disaster relief.

• AmeriCares deploying medical aid/relief team, emergency shipment with enough medical aid for 20,000 survivors is already on its way

Robert Olson is so obviously a Troll -- Don't feed the Trolls. If you simply ignore these sad individuals they will get board and move on to other sites. Remarking on what they have to say simply "feeds" their egotistical, self-centred attitude to a world that they are at odds with. I feel sorry for people like him as they must have very sad and empty lives to have nothing better to do than to make pathetic and insulting comments on stories such as this one.

Yo u just fed the troll

gera toutoune 09.11.2013 16:55

I feel sorry for these people. the IMF is going pound with debts the remaining people.

Gusts of 315 kmh is equal to 235 mph not 195. 195 mph was the sustained winds of the storm.

MEJanssen 09.11.2013 15:32

The government told 100s of thousands to evacuate. They have better warning than they used to. Imagine the death toll if this storm had hit 40 years ago.

God take all those souls and comfort the families.

Is there any way we can stop breeding your kind?

People are dead and/or dying and You spew your closed minded bs? Have some sympathy.

Sean Hurley 09.11.2013 13:36

If we do not make fundamental changes to the way we operate on a social level instances such as this will only become more frequent.
Capita lism is over, destroying the environment for profit is over, burning coal, oil and gas is over.
Change or suffer.

Ayee Rull Hugo 09.11.2013 13:27

Robert Olson, that comments of yours are inhumane, you deserve no respect at all. I pity your kind! Such a disgrace to human race!

RT keeps changing the stories content!

Al though it is a normal reaction to feel empathy for those who are suffering and also towards the loved ones of those who have been lost.

We really do have a major problem with these kinds of events, it would be in the best interests of everyone if we agree to set up a global response force of reliable organization and bodies to deal with events like this.

Most countries spend a fortune on military drills to promote cohesion of interaction between different types of military assets.

Why exactly do we not use these events to practice working together? just a suggestion!

Being retired living on the island of Mindano the wrath of the typhoon missed us we did see rain and wind but not the extent they say on Leyte. I like to note that the media was not broadcasting the true speeds of this monster they would be using the MPH and saying it was KPH so instead of saying 235 MPH which would be 313 KPH they were saying 235 KPH many people have seen other storms like that and there was no problem. I can see total death toll to be over 5,000 in all of the Philippines.. and for the global warming freaks ...I have heard there was a stronger one 457 years ago...check it out
