Syria vows to fight ‘escalated terrorist attacks’ as first UN observers arrive

April 15, 2012 19:18

The Syrian army pledged to continue fighting armed rebels in anticipation of the arrival of a team of UN observers, as “armed terrorists” have “hysterically escalated” their attacks following the official halt of all military operations.

Ever thought that there are no independant journalist? For example, see the footage of Fox news about the girl from Ossetia.

Ok, you get a camera and go into a hotzone, make your own cover of a story (independant), and then what? You have to sell your story, and soon you, as a journalist, will notice that you can only sell the story if its biased. I geuss you can be an independant journalist if you're a billionaire and create your own media station on a boat in neutral waters.

...and @Guest: regarding the news of today I think it is a proper regression in regard to the civilisation's evolution from Sausi Arabia to outlaw the gays, and I salute the courage of Julian Assange for his project of interviewing the most controversial names of our times.

I am so not brain-washed by swallowing anything from any camp.
My views are so not the basic good versus bad. Oppressor versus victims or these low levels of reasonment: Guest, apart from listening exclusively one side of the story and attempt to be a fine brain with doing silly jokes, how about you get your own views?
It is difficult at the beggining because you do not belong to any side and have to think by yourself, but at the end of the day you build yourself a form of authenticity and values.
How about you try?
There is no failing or winning, just debating! It is okay to debate Guest!

@ToggaUA Yes Barhein is not cevered, yes Guantanamo Bay is a shame, yes Saudi Arabia is one of the worst country in terms of human rights, yes Israel is obviously an abusive country with its sionism and supported by the USA! I totally agree with these points! All I am saying, alliances a part, strategies a part, manichean views like the West against the East: the whole entire planet's independant journalists witness a clear abuse from the Syrian government...a part from Russia and China. That is it.

@ Michael

Why would any country attack its civilians? Unless it has suicidal tendencies. For years the Gadaffi and Assad government were firm in control, now all of a sudden the dictators decide to have some fun and shoot at some people? Don't think so.

Oooh right, it were the peacefull protestors who were shot at. For your info, the majority of Syria supports Assad, at least the majority wants to give him time for reforms, they even signed a new constitution decreasing Assads power. And well, in a democracy the majority decides and the minority has to accept the majority's will, so why doesn't the US (the number 1 democracy in the world!!!) condemn those protestros for not accepting the will of the majority? And why isn't Bahrein (US's ally) covered in the news? And why isn't US putting pressure on Saudi Arabia were WOMAN AREN'T ALLOWED TO DRIVE!!?? I can go on and on about the US and their twisted ways.

I'm not saying everyone except Russia & China are part of the great evil syndicate or something :) But everyone who knowingly or not knowingly accepts the lies and manipulations of  the US, and acts according to these lie's is part of this evil factor that is making the world a very dangerous place to live.

If you want the truth my dear Micheal, you just have to compare situations. Kosovo - S.Ossetia & Abchazia, US-Afghan war - USSR-Afghan war, Guantanamo Bay - US pressure on China about humanism, there are very many of these comparisons, I find these comparisons on a daily basis, all the comparisons prove the hypocracy of the American ways. Besides this you have lonely facts like: justification and media cover of Iraq, Afghan and Libya war, media cover about Irainian nuclear program, media cover about European missle defense, media cover about Palestine and Israel, etc.

US has waged more wars in the past 40 years than USSR in its whole existence. Besides this, US has (in 300 years) waged more war and genocides than Russia (and USSR) in its whole history (1100 years).

I would like Ronald Reagen to explain to me why the USSR is the great evil empire

@ Michael Peace & ToggaUA:

What would be the interest of Western countries to defend the so called "terrorists"? I am very curious to see the comments here if the UN monitoring mission state that actually the branded "terrorists" are defending themselves from Syrian's government oppression?

Maybe they won't. Maybe I am wrong.

But what I know is that if they do state that, I am certain you will say something like "anyway the UN is part of the devil empire". Come on!

All of the G20 countries welcome every day immigrants and allow them to live how they want, giving them also the freedom of speech: was it the same in Lybia, Syria or Iran?

Again I love RT as, also with other medias, it helps me think my way. But I noticed that especially with the USA every single report is systematically to criticize them! Systematically! Even on BBC or CNN which are obviously defending a Western way of seeing the world, we do not see such a ideological harrassement against the Eastern countries!

In the Syrian matter: were the Arab league, EU states, USA, GCC states and the Human Right Watch all part of an evil gigantic plot to condemn Syrian government for killing so many innocent protesters (despite some of the protesters indeed had weapons)? What if the UN monitoring mission says it as well: them too are part of the evil plot?

Come on, none of us are in Syria as we speak, we know both Western and Eastern countries defend their interest...but at this scale thinking that only Russia and China own the truth and that the rest of the world is satan does not sound as a very rational way of thinking.

@san, you're right. I happen to remember that UN did suggest to send its peace keepers to borders between Palestine and Israel years ago. Israelis hooted nonsensically that it's anti-semantic. That's why there is no peace keepers at those borders.

Did anyone see the video over the weekend which purportedly showed the army shelling Homs? Did anybody else wonder how it came to be that the camera man knew the exact location of the building that was to be hit? Hmm...

The Arab League monitoring mission was criticised as a failure because the monitoring report accused the opposition of making up stories. Western commentators took this to mean that the monitoring mission had been manipulated by Assad to only see what he wanted them to see - it couldn't possibly be the case that the darlings of the conflict, the freedom fighters, were being dishonest. Perhaps when UN observers produce the same findings, Western media will finally change their tune...but I doubt it.

Members of the SNC (based in Washington and Paris) are proclaiming the failure of the UN mission even before it begins, hoping that it will suffer the same fate of the AL mission, thereby enabling them to present the case that military intervention is now the only solution. They will step up their attacks to undermine the apparent effectiveness of the mission, and Assad will be blamed.

To put things in perspective:

Syrian government shoots at armed rebels/terrorist/ins urgents, US is pretty upset about this and tries to manipulate the world to get rid of the Syrian government.

A fgan government shoots at armed rebels/terrorist/ins urgents, US is the biggest contributor to "the war on terror" (and to terrorism :) ) so it feels the need to go to the other side of the world to help those poor Afghans. Even more interesting, when the terrorist were shooting at Afghan government in the 80's and Afghan government asked USSR for help, USSR went in its backyard to resolve the situation. All this was condemned by the US.

But why doesn't US feel the need to stop the Syrian terrorist?

Am I the only one who sees this hypocracy? Americans hellowww, please wake up, you government is the great evil empire.

Syria must secure it borders , without secure borders , Mossad, CIA , mi6,and other Impearlist Zionist agents will supply all the terrorist hardware , from car bombs , to heavy arms, new terrorist recruits etc to create utter terror amongst the civillian population. Any country under such terrorist attack always secures it borders. If Syria neglects it border security it will live to regret such a folly. Syria must start to arm and train thousands of volanteers to help secure the borders without delay. The evidence is all around them that the Israehell/American NATO are able to flood the country with arms and terrorist, why wait to they reach the inner citys, towns , villages etc , hundreds of miles from the borders before stopping them. The Israehell/American NATO terrorist must be slaughtred along the borders areas as they try to enter Syria. The task is a huge one to stop the Israehell/American NATO terrorist gangs when they establish themselves deep inside the country. Please Syria , listen , without a metal sheild of security forces , police etc to secure the borders your task to defeat the Impearlist Zionist agenda is critical.

For all those criticising the Syrian Gov't's actions against civilians, do not get caught up in the terminology used. Whether these people are citizens or civilians, as soon as they pick up a weapon and use them against any authority, they immediately become criminals. Add to this, the fact that unarmed people are being killed by these criminals, they are now terrorists. This is exactly what happened in France recently when that French citizen/civilian Mohammad Merah, killed French troops and children. He was instantly a terrorist and was hunted down and killed, except in Syria they are dealing with a couple of thousand Merahs. You must watch the Syrian and Iranian state channels to get the other side of the events, not just the vile Mass Media. Yesterday, I watched on the Syrian state TV channel a report of a mother who had given birth to a baby that had shrapnel wounds from a bomb that had gone off, which was planted by these terrorists. I have never seen any of these stories on CNN or BBC. Why???  This really disturbs and upsets me that the Gov't are seen as the villians and the armed opposition as defending their rights and are allowed to kill and destroy as much as possible. Further to that report on the baby, I have seen countless reports of people critically injured, crying, begging for the authorities to help them and stop these criminals from such shameful acts of violence. This has and is not about freedom or democracy, this has always been a savage attempt at toppling the Gov't and destabilising the country. Much is vengeful and much is spiteful. We all know Syria, like Libya, Iran etc have many enemies, especially their neighbours and the US/UK/Israel, so when these greedy powers gang up, the situation becomes grave. Especially when they control the Mass Media. Thank you RT and Russia for supporting a defiant Syria and that Annan's Peace plan succeeds.
