If I see a flash, I can duck, but given that I rarely walk or ride down the street carrying a thick fireproof white blanket, how will I cover ?
Plus, given that heat is light and is coincident with the flash, if you are already in a severe burn injury range, by the time you see the flash it will be too late to duck, let alone cover to avoid the heat burn wounds.
A blanket would offer minimal protection against blast and debris if you are already in an area where such blast and debris would cause wounds.
