The bottom line is this; Russia is hated by the vast majority of the Syrian population. When Assad is kicked out, the Russian influence will be zero. It amazes me how the Russian political class always back the wrong horse. When democracy comes, Russia will be out.    Russia has no history of ever intervening t o save the lives of civilians that are being murdered by dictatorships. Can anyone give an example of when Russia intervened  to save the lives of a civilian population that was under attack from tyrants or nationalist? They didn't in Bosnia, they didn't in Kosovo.....all the Russians care about is themselves.....it m akes them look bad, and they eventually co me out on the wrong side. And when NATO just ignores the Russians, there is nothing they can do about it. If it was left to Russia, everybody in Bosnia would be dead except for Slobodan Milošević, Ratko Mladic,  Radovan Karadžić and the murderers that they commanded.   This talk about Russia protecting the Syrian dictatorship from the US/ NATO is complete madness. The Russian military is so decrepit an d out of date. The US would blast them out of existence  if there ever was a conflict, and Putin knows this.   Stand up for the right side for once in your life.
