“Well, nobody’s perfect”: man to help girlfriend become... a girl

A Chinese man was shocked when, after four years of dating, his girlfriend turned out to be a boy.
Does China even allow this surgery? Or if s/he goes abroad for it, will they allow a change of gender/sex on the passport? I doubt it very much.
I'm more interested in the model in the thumbnail
I don't like the way they worded this article at all. They took a simple, third-party report about a transsexual, and completely opinionated it by adding quotation marks and saying that she deceived him. That's horrible! She never lied to him at all (She should've let him know what was going on WAY sooner than that, after being together for four whole years, but...). Sex and gender are two different things, and they're saying "he" and "she" like she's not REALLY ever going to be a woman because her sex was male. Now, I understand that's not what they're outright saying here, but it's the message that's sent; or at least my perception. I'm merely suggesting a more formal, detached form of communication. But really - Deceived man? He didn't know she was a female-to-male transsexual, but can we get someone to write this without making it sound like some kind of awful tragedy? It's not a terrible thing o_o It's one of many possible pieces of human identity.
Thanks for the posting.there is something very unique and enjoyable about.

I wouldn't necessarily attribute his willingness to open-mindedness, I'd just call it love. But I find it absolutely shocking that it had taken him four years to find out that his "girlfriend" was actually a boy. He must look very feminine! If so, that's good, it means the sex reassignment surgery will work on him well. And they all lived happily ever after :-)...
