Info no go: Wikipedia threatens strike over US piracy bill
December 13, 2011 11:51
Wikipedia may temporarily blank out its pages in self-sacrifice to draw attention to the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act. While the bill aims to protect copyrighted material, critics fear corporate manipulation could lead to greater censorship.

The corrupt protecting the corrupt, nothing new really is it.
Governments are a puppet of big buisness and banks.
American government has been told by the corrupt to do this, if it had a choice then I personally think it would choose to spend its time on more pressing buisness like keeping its nose in its own back yard!!
Ban something and it just gets worse.........Drugs, and so on. They never learn do they, just blindly follow what they are told to do and have done for decades of blindness.

The truth is the global dragnet is being put in place to clamp down on dissent against the corporations, who front for Wall Street, who front for the London GangBanksters who front for the Royals and the old feudal rich who have controlled the world for the last 10,000 years at least. When you look at conflict that is "divided" with two opposing "human sides" the real conflict is between the rich and the poor. So Russia/USA, Israel/Iran, whatever, it is the rich against the poor and the rich are pulling those strings of conflict, Arab spring? My posterior.
Hollywood is running scared because they realize that anyone with a camera and a internet connection can compete with them. Hollywood is falling apart. More people are subscribing to youtube channels than are buying movies. An online shift is coming and Hollywood is scared shitless. Think about how many Youtube or online personalities are directly competing with hollywood actors, directors & writers. To put it simply an open source form of entertainment is a direct threat to the current establishment, hence SOPA. Pray for peace, prepare for war my childred.
Yeah this and unlimited distension and torture, so much for FREE country and some IDIOT AMERICANS still keep writing here, FREEDOM AND FREE COUNTRY IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, this is actually WORSE THAN USSR, which they portray as the spying on their own citizen, THIS IS EVEN WORSE.
"the industry is losing millions of dollars" Please read their own economical reports and numbers, they are doing fine, actually better than ever, despite 10 years of massive global filesharing. This is about greed, protectionism and plain censorship.
Sor ry to burst your bubble Brian, but it is. And as a website hosted in the United States, it could easily be shut down by SOPA if someone isn't careful about what they upload to it. What difference does it make to you if they are down voluntarily or because the government shuts them down? Either way you can't read those articles anymore.
Mayb e you should care about the US a little more if you like Wikipedia, Google, or any of the other huge websites that are based here and subject to US law.
Typical American attitude. Wikipedia isn't American, it's global. Who cares about the American law if you don't live in America. I would rather protest over Guantanamo or Iraq or any other silly law they have... Canada pulled out of the Kyoto Protocol, should we blank the page about that as well? Wikipedia is not a soapbox for political views. Keep it neutral and let me read my articles. The world exists past the 50 states, and most people don't really care about the US anymore, surprise, surprise.
NONE of us....from Obama down to the inhabitants of Skid Row.....has ANY POLITICAL power at all.....democracy is just one big collective fantasy and confidence trick..... designed by the global elite to keep us working and paying taxes and voting for traitors etc......just like the shmucks we ALL are!
Who is going to screw up the courage to blow the whistle and expose Obama as an emperor with no clothes?
Would someone please impeach Obama any everyone else who's taking a paycheque for passing these bills? Where have all the freedoms gone? When is enough going to be enough?
