Belarus’ president seems less content with Europe

Ongoing contact between European institutions and the Belarusian opposition seem to irritate the Belarusian leader to such an extent that he is ready to make changes to his pro-European agenda.

The difference between Eastern Europe and other parts of the world is the legendary lack of self-esteem. In spite of the obvious victory that Belorus had over its detractors, there is a persisten blindness to one's own worth. With the financial and economic systems in meltdown in the West, and the uncertain future ahead --- Belorus is a shining example that restraint in implementing liberal excesses paid off. Belorus has less unemployment, does not import food, and maintains still much of its exports in spite of the word-wide slump. The virulence of such "non-governmental" groups is not surprising. They are funded by foreign governments, regardless of the roundabout ways that the funds are managed.
