The exploding of the atomic bomb has always been a "Prometheus Moment" for mankind. For man has dared his gods to replicate the fire of the sun, and in return has been tricked by his limited abilities to use such a source of energy intelligently and wisely. Atomic energy, more destructive than anything yet known, has the ability to greatly alter or extinguish life. It's peaceful uses are limited to creating steam to run turbines on ships, electrical power plants, and deep space vehicles. There is no absolutely safe way of deposing of such waste. The French method at best leaves 10% of the most toxic components to be fused to molten glass  and embedded in lead lined concrete blocks to be stored in a cave for tens of thousands of years. Distance, time, and shielding are the only means for protecting one's self. Distance from the source, the amount of time exposed to the source, and the shielding effects of objects between oneself and the source are all we have to protect ourselves. Remember our sun is an atomic fireball and the same rules apply. The legacy of deserted cities void of life could well be mankind's fate. Not from a war as Nevil Shute may have envisioned, but from nature and our own lack of understanding. I am glad that Russia is helping the people of Japan. I am glad the Russia is taking the lead in improving standards for atomic energy safety. But atomic waste products will always be a troubling legacy to the environment.

The missile defense program is in place to force Russia  and China to join the New World Order. The U.S. and U.K. are moving forwarded with this New Order World with or without China and Russia. The U.S. thinks that the missile defense system will protect the west from China and Russia in this New World Order. This New World Order will lead to a major war when Israel attacks Iran. My God help us all. 

We should concentrate nuclear power in industries that produce the most CO2. Instead of using natural gas to produce tar-sands oil, Canada should use nuclear power.  Instead of using fossil fuels to produce cement, we should use nuclear power.  Nuclear power has a role to play in the energy sector and the US and Russia should cooperate more for not only mutual benefit but global benefit.  This nonsensical missile defense plan only antagonizes Russia with little benefit to the US.  America should just tie together a joint radar screen and protect each other from stray missiles.  If we can cooperate in space, we can cooperate on Earth.
