Its clear without any doubt, to any honest person that Georgia started last yaer war and commited genocide on S.Ossetian nation!I dont agree that Russia over reacted.Russia didnt have a choice other that deploy massive force to quick stop Georgian attack!Russia is right to recognize those 2 new states-after all - it was a corect move in order to save them. Shaakashvili is a war criminal-he shall face justice! We also know is some other states comited those crimes, their president will be a long time ago in prison-but not Shaakashvili! In the end-it was proxy war wage from the West on Russia!Georgia is saved and form as a state thanks to Russia in past history and nobody else!Shaakashvili is trojan horse among Georgian national interest! There is only one BIG IDIOT in this story-Usa puppet-Shaakashvili!

"EU to blame Georgia"? Ha ha ha Of course the West is blaming little Georgia because otherwise the West would have to blame itself. It was the West who pushed little Georgia to fight big Russia, it was the West that equipped and trained Georgia army, it was the West who interfered into Georgia's internal affairs by financing coup d'état and installing dictator Saakashvili who kills opposition members while the West call him "democratic light in Caucasus" etc... Considering all that of course that the West will blame Georgia. What does the EU think, that people around the world are stupid? Here in Yugoslavia (I am from Croatia) EU and the West also supported chauvinistic psychopaths by giving them financial and political support. And just like in the Georgia they also equipped these chauvinistic forces and gave them arms, (during communism the West even gave them shelter encouraging terrorist attacks on Yugoslavia), and then when they destroyed Yugoslavia, the West is "washing its hands" just like in Georgia, denying any of its own responsibility. The very same political driver that was behind Napoleon or Hitler is also behind today's EU and NATO.

As if the whole world did not know that Georgia started the war. Georgia had some reasons to be confident. First, the full-fledged support by US, and the training, armaments and strategy was provided by the best-of-the-best in the trade: MPRI, Inc. MPRI's claim to fame was exactly what Georgia needed. MPRI helped Croatian army conquer its rebellious province, Krajina, and in the process managed to kick-out nearly entire population of the region. Home, business, farms and livestock --- all destroyed. Wells poisoned, electricity cut-off, and septic systems filled with the bodies of the feeble and elderly that could not leave homes. Georgia had the same plan for S. Ossetia. Even the name of the operation is blood-curling: Clean Field. Yes, Georgia must have seen the pictures of Krajina, and must have liked what it saw. There was some reason to expect success. It was the night of the opening of the Olympic Games in China. Russian military just concluded exercises in the Caucasus and returned to their barracks. And the plan called for the mining of Roki Tunnel, making it impossible for Russian military to move in. Any Russian attack from the air alone, would have been countered by the new S. Ossetian government as aggression. The plan was good, but it had one major flow. In order to remove as much population as possible, Georgia needed to keep the tunnel open. Leaving too many South Ossetians on the territory would have made it impossible to install Georgia-friendly regime. So instead of quick mining of the tunnel, they focused on pushing the refugees out of the country. In the meantime, this allowed Russia to go to the Security Council to demand the end of hostilities. Georgia cannot say that Russia did not do all that before engaging militarily. The rest is history. What the EU report does is nothing new. Yes, there was an aggression, but Russia needed to be gentle to the aggressor. Typical, pointless, bureaucratic EU.

I agree with the comments above, we all knew that the war between Georgia and Russia was a proxy war against Russia, made and pushed by the Neoconservatives in the USA, and Israel we all knew this when war started, but the media in the west made his part as always blaming Russia for the war, but at the end the truth came to light one month later after the war the BBC took a different approach and retracted from what they have been saying about the war and they started to blame Georgia after the BBC, CNN and other western media started to correct the lies that they have been saying about the war sending this lies through the internet and the TV, so now everybody knows the truth and I no longer trust the western media. The West especially America are well known for sowing discontent, unrest and installing corrupt dictators in many countries to suit their own interest. They talked of freedom and democracy but they murdered thousands. Check out Iraq, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia and many others. They justified all these killing of innocents in the name of democracy and freedom which any sane person will agree we can do without. They took one over year to conclude that Georgia was the culprit. Other than that what else did they do? Nothing. They are still supporting the criminal regime. They talked of human rights and lambasted other countries on what in their opinions amounted to human right abuse even though the countries concerned did what they had to do to maintain law and order. They would do well to mind their own affairs and keep their opinions to themselves and take steps to put their own house in order especially America. What hypocrites. I had a great respect for the EU and America in the past but now I despise them.

I really wonder if the EU report will be on the news here in the States. If the mainstream media talks about it honestly, they will get comments from people who will ask why the sudden about-face in discussion of the Georgian war. TV news and bloggers all pretty much agreed that Russia invaded without provocation and tried to "take over" Georgia just like in the Soviet era. Glenn Beck had an interview with Saakashvili where he fawned over the Georgian prexy and almost patted him on the head and said "there, there". How will the spinmeisters handle the new EU report? I think it will be mentioned quietly on radio news at 3 a.m., or maybe buried on page 11 between all the shopping adverts, while management hopes nobody will notice.

should we start again? looks like yes, we should... 1. Ossetian leadership evacuates civilians 2. volunteers from north caucasus are coming to Ossetia, get armed (surprising?) boasting that "soon Georgian State will come to its end" 3. Russian army still stays on the other side of Caucasus mountains after their training finished. 4. few days before "someone" starts provocative" shelling of Georgian villages. and that is becamind more and more intensive. 5. part of Russian peacekeepers (from north Ossetia) does not obey their commander and get involved into fighting but all this is coincidence, and it was not orchestrated from "somewhere" it's just that simple: "Its clear without any doubt, to any honest person that Georgia started last yaer war..."
