About 2,000 delegates are expected to arrive at United Russia’s party congress on Monday.

One of the key issues of the day will be United Russia's strategy for the presidential race.
The party will have to decide weather they will support Dmitry Medvedev as the lone candidate or a tandem of Medvedev and Putin, whom he suggested for the post of Prime Minister last week.

It is expected that Vladimir Putin will voice his thoughts about the proposal today.

The results of December's Parliamentary Election, in which United Russia has 64% of the votes, will also be discussed.

On Saturday, the Communists' leader, Gennady Zyuganov, won the overwhelming support of his party members.

The deadline for all political parties to nominate their candidates expires on December, 23.
