What about if men would start using burqa too? would they be forced to pay fines too?

great. the day a man is fined for wearing something, or fined for ANYTHING at all, I'll smile, but for now this is just another attack on women (and Muslims) who pay dearly for everything ALREADY, whether it's having babies or not having babies or wearing too much or wearing too little! wearing a G-string is demeaning to women, but nobody makes laws to fine the women (why not fine the men when the women wear it?), making less money than a man is demeaning, but nobody fines either for that. sorry, it's misogynist to fine women. period. !!!!

If a women wants to cover her face, she should be allowed to do so. It is ironic how we force women to reveal more of themself but no one ever tells those half naked women walking around to conceal more of themselves. Who is realy oppressed? The woman who does not care what people think of her physical figure, or the woman who believes freedom is equal to how much of her ass is showing. Seriously people, get your modesty back...

I wouldn't mind Muslim women wearing veils as long as their vision is not blocked and as long as they can freely choose whether to wear (ie- not receive threats or harassment or criticism for not wearing it for whatever reason).

And women don't have the right to run around in bikinis in public in Saudi Arabia. Why is it considered fair for Arabs to dictate what a woman can wear in public, but not the French? The Islamists and pro-Islamists out there are nothing more than the worst sort of hypocrites. Worse yet, they are so afraid of women that they have to force them to walk around in potato sacks and blame them for the urges that they are not man enough to control. God help those poor women whom Islam makes into scapegoats for the men's inadequacies.

I agree that "when in Rome" applies to all localities. IMO: Respect the land you're IN, whether visitor or immigrant. The mindset of certain sub-cultures as well as published declarations in Islam, are to dominate and overturn the framework of the western democrat-ish governments and implement Islam based lifestyle and/or Shariah law. This is easily found on any loose/casual Google search as well as news reports in UK & USA of these efforts. Also not expounded is that the head/face coverings are a cultural aspect, but not a mandate of the qu'ran/their prophet. The largest problem has been -COMMUNICATION. the west has a huge difference in approaches to Fairness, Equality, Honor and Justice. From an islamic perspective, these definitions are quite differently lived out and justified from western perspectives. The western democratic systems have made room for others to 'join' and 'include' others which makes it desireable. But the conflict is really how much of your culture can you carry out in another country / 'culture-space'. Personally, I think our constitution and idealism are being slowly overthrown. Points to consider: Essentially, non-muslims are 'lesser' to muslims, within muslim controlled lands. (dhimmi) Hospitality is paramount; it's a blessing to be incredibly generous, but they can still slit your throat (literally) if you say anything against Islam/prophet. -and be justified in their own context. It is ok to tell mis-truths (it's different than calling it a 'lie', it's a mis-truth to protect their 'honor' and interests- to call it a lie can get you -dead- for dishonoring -that-). Islam is 'peace'- IF you're a muslim. (the context is 'peace through submission to Islam and it's prophet') and the whole religion is based on submission to whatever non-centralized 'authority' is in charge of a given region or people at a given period of time. The west needs to learn and adapt & hold fast to our culture if we are to avoid being subverted.

The burqa should not be banned. I do not find it offensive. However, I am tired of seeing women wearing very short, very tight, very low cut, and skimpy clothing. I am SICK of seeing butt cheeks, camel toes and nearly all of a woman's breasts when I am grocery shopping!!!! They should save that type of dress for the bedroom. Woman can walk around in public wearing the equevelance of two bandaids and a cocktail napkin and look like sluts: but heaven forbid that they completly cover their bodies up with a burga and head covering! How stupid.

Many muslim women want a burka and veil ban in France. A friend who is a teacher tells of many women secretly asking to support the ban. If it is legal, the women are threatened with attack and rape and are accused of being whores by not wearing the veil. If it is legal, many women are forced to wear it and the state will not protect their rights.

burqa isn't islamic or quranic just like headscarf to wear a headscarf is a jewish law not islamic if i wouldn't be a muslim and after all those false news and media i would believe that islam teaches those things and even those women with a burqa don't get forced maybe some non arab talibans force their woman to do so whatever i wouldn't care if burqas getting banned in europe and btw A.C. Luthos you know tell me that headscarf is islamic? no it isn't you can't even find a verse in the quran with headscarf but judaism forces the woman to wear it or cut their hairs off so think about it and your "christian-jewish european culture" LOL how naive why don't you ban the headscarfs in europe? but still have a photo of maria at home with a headscarf hehe

i'm an islamist myself i still don't know why those women even wear a burqa sure most brainwashed western try to use it for their goals but burqa HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ISLAM OR THE QURAN even headscarf is not islamic to wear a headscarf is forced by the jewish religion but muslims aren't forcd they do it for the respect to the other prophets that is one of the example why muslims are believer and non muslims unbeliever

Why is it Nuns are modest but muslims are oppressed? (unregistered) May 24, 2012, 20:46 quote

Why is it when a nuns wears a hijab shes modest and when a muslim wears a hijab shes oppressed? There are tribes in africa that elongate their tongs. Where are the reports on the oppresion of mutilation of tongs? Why always single out muslim practices? Even some jewish women in jerusalem wear the burka and it was christian custom too up until only a few hundred years ago to wear hijab. Why are people so intollerant of clothing? Wear what you like it wont bother me if you dress in a star trek costume! Oppresion is when you believe you have the right to dictate what someone wears.

RT has some good news to read but when it comes to islam i see the same islamophobic biggoted anti-muslim media material being used on RT as in the mainstream media.......just let them be and leave the muslims alone! They can wear what they like without judgement if they are truely free!. Do you seriously think they wake up in the morning and say to themselves "I think i need to oppress my wife with a veil today" NO! they believe its for modesty and RT does not seem to be able to accept the answer because you want to assimulate them into the borg! RESISTANCE IS FUTILE MUSLIMS!
