This are great news , this means that Russia and the biggest economies in Europe are in the same path to secure the world from another country that just think in wars...and promote them.

Don't worry US Senators, Russia will not use this War Ship against your puppet Georgia, because killing an ant you don't need a tank but you would rather let it live and behave.

The fact that Russia is buying military equipment from abroad and from the west is not the only point of historical value in this trade. The other side of the coin is that the west is now allowed to sell Russia military equipment. It is known that USA protested and tried to stop this act of commerce furiously. Thanks to the European Union's own defence policy, the French president had negotiaited with the USA more liberties and freedom for the European Union's arm and military industry so that EU or an EU country is able and allowed to sell military equipment more freely and for example to Russia. European Union is willing to develp its own defence without US and NATO interfierence so, these kind of cooperations between an European Union country and Russia are very wellcome to EU and to its efforts for independent defence and defence policy.

As I wrote in previous comments, the French like his US counterpart MIC is desperate to make more money. France is a broken country. If you add to the government false statement of 1440 billions € debts, the private debts, you reach way above 2000 billions. When we have so many urgent problems to resolve and an increasing misery, there is other things to worry about than that useless ship. Today, 02-09, most French media and citizen are all excited because our military industry has sold 20% more armaments than the previous year. This remind me of a very sad story which I had witnessed in 1960. At that time, we were fighting the Algerian rebellion. The national Arms' Fabric of Saint-Etienne, on government's orders was selling the most sophisticated weapons to the Tcheck- Republick (at that time, part of the East-Block). Then those weapons were given to the Egyptian which provided that armament to their friends from the Algerian FLN. Conclusions: French parents with their taxes' money paid to make weapons used to kill their children...When I read most previous comments, I am sad and hungry because I understand how easer it is for all the World's greedy "bastards" to become billionaires on other humans' misery and how prostituted are politician and media. Wake up Peoples ! Sorry Future Generations ! Jean-Claude Meslin

@ Meslin Just curious, do you stay up at night thinking of BS to post or do you do you just make it up as you go along? The truth is that the only reason Russia has to go to another country to build such ship is because it does not and cannot find the brain power or the technology within its borders to take on a project like this and be successful. The world knows how bad Russian technology is and how bad its Naval force is. Facts are facts and the truth is that Russia, currently does not have a naval vessel that could deter a sea attack or repel an amphibious attack, which is why it is going to another country to build up its defenses. @EE The EU might as well be NATO. Call it what you want but when it comes to economics and safety, it is the same thing just with a different name. The EU is not going to do anything to jeopardize its safety. The French know what they’re doing. Nobody is more afraid of Russia than the French.

Unfortunately people like Mr Meslin do exist ! I can understand you completely! I also have same problem! I get angry when I meet guys like him who are far above potential of my single brain cell! I see how it can get difficult for you! You understand most of the words but when you put them together than everything is over, you don't understand anything any longer! Just don't panic! If you look around you will find your belly button and if you turn your head back you can see your posterior in mirror!. Talk with your posterior nicely ......... You will see everything will be OK after that ! After all U.S. is the greatest country in the world and you are real American! I'm sure that president Bush would be proud of you!

To: Nuta and DRC, Just a simple fact you are not aware of from the recent past just after Georgian-Russian War, when US most sophisticated floating war ships came to the Black Sea in support of Georgia. Russian Generals gave their US counterpart 21 days notice to vacate the territory and if they don’t Russians will sink US floating boards in 20 minutes. Do you Nuta and DRC recall this event and does this give you an answer to your dilemma? The sale of this War ship to Russia is a precedent on the tectonic scale and the significance is enormous by which Europe rises to its feet and becomes independent at last with Russian help. So far the Americans were able to prevent it on the ideological background but with the collapse of the USSR not only Russia and EU but the rest of the World, including US population but not bankers, are moving forward to the next stage of human development. You should be cheering this prospect because it affects you as well. Do you recall Americans leaving Black Sea abruptly? Does that mean anything to you regarding Russian capability?

Ali. Your analyse is good but when you say Europe free herself from America's influence; then I don't agree. E-U and particularly France are still "collabos" to all US adventures. Sarkozy is still the Bush and neo-cons' puppet. Beside, our French businessmen have so little success selling TGV, nuclear-centrals and civilian products. Considering that France is not competitive in most industries (except alcohol) and that our country is broke, we have no choice, but selling what we can. Our government actual pride is that we have sold 20% more armaments in 2009 than in the previous year. Also, I almost forgot:"Sarkonaparte" needs a new airplane, as luxurious as Air Force 1 for his numerous travels (the prestige of France is at that price!). Selling that "Mistral ship" is just a way to make money; nothing else. In a previous comment, I explained to which extremism France can go for arms' selling. I even have a french formula: France = 4 F (frime, fric, fraude and fourberie). I am worry about my country because, in a few decades we have ruined economically and mentally the luckiest 550 000 km² territory of the planet Earth and now with that nullity at the Elysée Palace, we have reached the paroxysm of mediocrity...That is why I try to convince Russians not to be as dumb as we have been in France, America, Great-Britain and many other European nations. This is, at the end of a well accomplished life my small contribution to those who will inherit the mess made and orchestrated by just a few greedy no good humans, which we could easily put out of business. Sincerely...Jean-Claude Meslin

ali, I don't know where you got that disinformation, but the US Navy ships actually ignored that stupid comment comment from the Russian admiral and sent in more ships. That was just Russian bravado, good for domestic consumption, but the world already knew that the Russian Navy is totally outmatched by the US Navy. Sorry, but that is a hard fact.

Not sure where this ali got his info from. But I do know the US send in more ships, and dispite russian complaints even started a full scale supply line to georgia. Nor would I know any Russian or American admiral or president willing to risk a real US-Russian military escalation. Don't know where Ali got his info that Russia wants war with the USA, but I know some people in Russia and noone in Russia was/is willing to declare war on the USA. Wierd comment from Ali. Ali, could you please post your source where, and which russian spokesmen/admiral said Russia will declare war on the USA?
