Glad that Russia is standing up to all this nonesense. We need them on this troubled times in the world, with all this moral confusion and chaos. God bless Russia!, Holy is his son Jesus, the righteous one, the defeated of the devil on the cross. The one who died and rose again. The one who defeated dead and sin. He put humanity back again on the top. Thank you Jesus, Holy One.

The original diagnostic and statistical manual (DSM), released in 1952, listed homosexuality as a sociopathic personality disturbance. The connection between the two was subsequently removed due to protests from the gay community that homosexuality was being equated with sociopathy.

Peter Heiduschka 02.04.2014 17:46

So, dear official functionaries of the church: Believing that somebody is walking on water and believing in a talking snake is normal, but homosexuality is not?
Come on, Russia, set yourself free from these middle-age religious beliefs and become a modern country.

John 01.04.2014 16:11

Can you really take anyone seriously who believes stories about people rising from the dead, parting rivers, predicting the future, summoning animals, turning water into wine, etc? Didn't society grow up after the dark ages?

I know that Christianity is a rather new thing in Russia...

Th is is incorrect. The advent of communism and the Soviet Union merely drove Christianity underground in some respects. It did not destroy it. The Orthodox Church, although subject to persecution, was still active. When Nazi Germany invaded, Stalin supported the Church in the cause of patriotism. The Patriarch took to the radio to rally the People to the cause of Otetchesvo. Some, not so fortunate, were killed or imprisoned for their beliefs - but that faith never disappeared.

I know that Christianity is a rather new thing in Russia since you guys were about 1000 year late (like with most historical trends/improvements) . But does that mean that you also have to be mentally stuck in the medieval ages? If someone asks where the anti-christ will most likely come from, my money is on the biblical Magog (=Russia).

Das Land der Dichter und Denker. Maybe a thousand years ago. Ever heard of "The Great Schism" ?

As far as homosexuality and bestiality go, this statement is entirely incorrect. .

Y ou are correct, John, but I would just point out that many folks are abandoning the Episcopalians and coming into the Orthodox Church for the above listed reasons. I have seen plenty of these folks come into our parish. Still, if Mark is speaking of England, one could excuse his statement based upon the observations he has made there.

The church has no say in a secular government, whether you like it or not.

The Church has the right to speak its mind on important issues, just like any other group of citizens. You may not like it, but there it is.

Mark 26.03.2014 15:17

The only church to still oppose homosexuality and bestiality and interraciality is the Eastern Church.

As far as homosexuality and bestiality go, this statement is entirely incorrect. The Eastern Orthodox Church rightly opposes these practices, but it is not the only church to do so. The Roman Church still condemns homosexual and bestial practices. So do the Anabaptists in Russia, and the related fundamentalist evangelicals throughout the world. Some western churches have succumbed to the secular progressivism that teaches acceptance, but not all do.

Mark 26.03.2014 15:17

The only church to still oppose homosexuality and bestiality and interraciality is the Eastern Church. That is why they are growing stronger each day whilst our English hurches are being turned into bingo halls and Bengali restaurants.

I love how some degenerate minds try to say that marriage between a man and a woman is "old fashioned and from the Dark Ages",no doubt their moms and pops didn't agree and had them anyway unfortunately.Blessi ngs to the Patriarch and all who stand by Biblical Truths.

Philip Bair 26.03.2014 13:49

Do Russian Orthodox seminarians study metaphysics as a foundation for philosophy and theology? I ask this because if this is the case, all one would need do is state that same sex "marriage" would be an obvious violation of natural law. Of course, it is a violation of Devine law pre-dating Christianity to the Ten Commandments as well. But the modernists will through up their hands and say: "who am I to judge"? They do not believe in objective truth, rather supposing that truth can differ from person to person. I think that's pretty close to the definition of secular humanism, a false masonic philosophy, isn't it?

Blessings to the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.
