How Western media backs the “green revolution” in Iran

It was an election that was snatched from the Iranian people – or at least that's the impression being given by Western media outlets. But are they telling the full story?
"European June 23, 2009, 10:32 It is obvious that Western Media overexaggerate the things. 65% for Ahmadinejdad is a Great WIN and it is a sign to the West that West should change its colonial thinking!!!" Рow do you over exaggerate people being shot down by their own government. Yeah what a win for the Iranian people.. I'm sure my relatives there are having the time of their life. You obviously don't know what it's like over there.
@Joe... i don't think that you're iranian not to mention that you don't have any family over there .. i've been to Iran several years ago with a friend of mine . it's was beatifull there ... the girls weren't allowed to show their hair and stuff .. but still you could get a girl(not a prostitute) a LOT easier then in any western country despite this is a muslim country. This asside. Anyway ... i'm seeing the same movement as in recent "democratic" Georgia ..Ukraine ... CIA have shot that girl to add more drama to the whole procces. I wonder why they still haven't taken down that video from youtube ? A year ago there was a video of an american soldier throwing a puppy from a cliff... well that one isn't anywhere on youtube .... why ??? or where are the reports and videos of innocent people bombed in IRAQ and AFGH...???
It seems that each and every nation has to go trough the same ordeal so that people finally realize that there is not such thing as democracy, but only the difference of interest. Those who know what was happening in Serbia on the fifth of October 2000 can easily recognize the pattern used in this so called "peace demonstrations" and "struggle for democracy". If the situation wasn't extremely serious, the lameness of the US propaganda would be hilarious! But the most frightening thing is the possibility that they (the Americans) are actually right! Maybe, people are really that stupid and ignorant to buy the bullsh..t stories Soros zombies serve them! I mean, talk about irony!!! They've just released a series called "Sadam's family", to show the world what a monster he was... I wouldn't be surprised they make a similar idiocy in few years time, when they finally get to Ahmedinejad. I wonder who's next on the list!? I bet they would love to make some fantasy action-thriller about Putin or Medvedev, but they just don't have the... you know what! I'm sorry that it's impossible to get the schemes and plots that are carried out in Serbia out, because it is amazing how a small country like ours is a window into the biggest "trade secrets" of the Anglo-American globalizing machinery. Serbia is a living, breathing testing facility for every "innovative solution" those bastards come up with. Once you penetrate their modus operandi, it is quite easy to understand what they are trying to accomplish by any and every "this just in"... The bastards will plunge this world into war once again just to squeeze out few billion more! But the saddest part is - both Serbs and Russians (youth predominantly) look to the West mesmerized by its glitter, not seeing the pit that awaits them at the end of the yellow brick road! Yes, the grass IS greener on the other side... Until you take a look what's beneath your feet! It is very depressing to see young people of our two nations looking up to "rap icons" and other "half-smart", "street-wise", "thug life poet" rootless trash (I'm afraid there isn't an adequate term for it in English), who "spread the word of the good old Buck". Our duty is to teach our youth the true values in life, at least from our point of view. I say this because every nation is entitled to its own point of view and obligated not to impose it on others! They've got a really interesting name for it - "The GREEN revolution"!!! I wonder what the word "green" stands for?! ;) Finally, to adress your attention to a very easily overlooked phenomenon, when you watch the next news about the demonstrations, this and any other, try to analize the faces and the behavior of the people you see fighting the police. You'll notice those are not "the working people", but well payed hooligans, orchestrated by some very powerfull and well financed interest group. I wonder who could that be?! Then, imagine the same kind of "protest" in the streets of Washington, with the demand to cancel the elections or overthrow the elected government! What would be the reaction of the American authorities, would you say? I arrest my case...
The article shows one sided point of view - both Roberts and Madsen are known for their strong opinions and uncovering 'conspiracies'. Not the most reliable sources are they.
Maybe Ahmadinejdad really won the elections, maybe he didn't. No doubt his security forces shot down some people. But there were many USA puppet dictators that tortured and killed much more people and the western media didn't pay attention... We are not idiots to believe that suddenly USA begun to care about democracy in the world. All they want is to control as many territories as they can. The point is what will Russia do? Ergatis
@alex I've been there on four occasions and it is a lovely country with with lovely people but just because the people there are nice doesn't mean the government is, they're over-aggressive for the smallest situations and don't see everyone equally. My comment about my relatives there is referring to the situation with the protests, because I do have family that are protesting peacefully in Tehran while seeing people get beaten by the basij for voicing their opinion, I don't see Khomeini as a win for its people. It's offensive to say the current government isn't suppressing their own people and it is full of corruption. Everyone knows western media twists stories and adds drama as well as saving their own back sides in a media war frenzy and their support for whatever works in their favour, the Georgian war is a perfect example, but don't tell me everything there is okay and perfect and the whole situation is only brought up because the western nations are controlling the situation which seems like it's being implied by euro's comment when clearly there's a lot of room for advances in its civil development.
Its called Freedom, something most of you know nothing about. You fight for it, your die for it, its all that matters. You hate us because you will never have what we have or the courage to do anything about it. Just stick to doing what Iranians/Chinese/Russians/N.Koreans do best...
alex June 23, 2009, 13:53 I have no doubt that the elections were fairly contested and votes were counted honestly. The fact that Ahmaninejad has slightly increased his support form the previous election should not be very surprising. While he is not well supported amongst the affluent (and more liberal) city dwellers (eg North Tehran) he is very popular in the conservative rural areas, and his redistributive economic policies have been well received amongst the poor and working class. Polls conducted prior to the vote predicted a 2-1 margin in favor of Ahmadinejad, and that has been borne put by the results. Rapid counting of results is explained by the fact that there were some 47,000 seperate polling stations across the countryside, and with 39 million registered voters that means about 800+ votes per station on average. It is very plausible that Electoral Council representatives at each station can count, recount, check and submit the result electronically to the central tally, all within several hours. Voter turnout was huge (87%) and due to imprecise census info and peoples freedom to vote at differing stations, the fact that some 50+ "cities" (voting stations, villages?) received more than 100% of the registered votes is quite explainable without invoking the specter of widescale fraud. Finally, as for Moussavi losing in his own "stronghold", why do we take seriously the idea that his victory was certain simply due to his ethnici background? Iranian voters are no doubt as influenced by past performances and policies than they are by candidate ethnicity. Did the white American majority vote for John McCain out of ethnic loyalty, or did many whites vote for the better candidate and ignore the colour of Obamas' skin? I suspect that Moussavi and his supporters have planned these protests well in advance. His game plan is probably to embarrass the government and force a new election, afterwhich he hopes that protests and exaggerated claims of government violence and repression will influence enough swing voters to switch their support to him. I expect he will fail badly, and will have to deal with the legal ramifications of his actions. Ayatollah Khameneni will not look kindly on this little Machiavellian ploy and the deliberate sullying of Irans' international reputation.
B, you said it best. It's important to open the eyes of our youth so they are not conned by these spin doctors and masters of manipulation and propaganda. They truly live by the doctrine of 'divide and conquer.' Russia and China should stay very vigilant as should any other country might stand in the way of "The Plan For The New American Century." Beware of charitable organization and NGO's these are like trojan horses...behind these organizations are the wolves that come to feast on you sheep, mostly vunerable youth or weak minds, hooligans and opportunists that, as you say, are "mesmerized by its glitter, not seeing the pit that awaits them at the end of the yellow brick road!"
It is all about gaining spheres of influence, and it should be ovbvious to all that the West is still busy trying to encircle Russia and exploiting political unrest in Iran towards this end. Also, can you think of a better way to divert the Western public's attention away from the terrible economic mess they face? A mess caused in large part by Western political and business leaders
This is a response to the video. I do not agree with the fat man in front of the flag. He and the man interviewing him seem to agree that "the west is meddling." I, with most Americans, do not know first hand what is happening behind the scenes, yet I still disagree with what these two seem to be so confident of. First, any "pressure" Obama gets to become involved is just that, pressure. America is a land of different opinions. The President often gets pressure from one group or another to go one way or another. This does not imply anything about what America wants as a whole. I believe Americans simply want to see and know what's happening in Iran. It is probably not because of an unseen hand pushing more coverage with the motive that the more coverage this "revolution" gets the more it will push the revolution forward. Yes that may happen but it's illogical to think that it is on purpose. This particular story is an intriguing story, and the media reports what the people want to see. Why wouldn't this covered by American media? To ignore it would more greatly imply conspiracy! The U.S.A. loves a good election, and hates election fraud. HATES IT. Obam'as stance is to let the people of Iran decide. THAT there is democracy. "B" is confused. A difference of interest IS democracy. In a democracy differences of interest LIVE TOGETHER IN PEACE because they know their neighbors difference of opinion will not manifest into hate and violence backed by a hateful and violent dictator! Who cares if someone referred to all this as "the green revolution" the night before the election. It was the night before the election and most felt there would be change! The literal revolution is being pushed because of BLATANT VOTER FRAUD. If the protesters are only 33.75% of Iranian voters, where is the 62.63% of Iranian voters fighting back? Where are the 24.5 million Iranians backing Ahma, the man they voted for? Wouldn't a GIANT MAJORITY like that speak out? Wouldn't they make their STRONGER voice heard? These are the types of obvious questions Americans discuss, and that is why Americans are interested in this story. We can put ourselves in their shoes. If there were that many Americans in the streets protesting an American election, you're damn straight there would be results! Our government would not dare to cut off text messaging, ban journalists, or punish free speech. If it came to that they would be brought down in a week! People can take down an iron fist government, but since that iron fist did not grow strong by avoiding bloodshed, it sometimes requires bloodshed. Every democracy must pay its price, and because we paid ours we live in the peace of knowing it can never happen again. Our government cannot grow that strong again because of the checks and balances we have set up after fighting against tyranny ourselves over 200 years ago during the first revolution in the age of freedom! FREE THE VOTE COUNT!
For some reason the United States and Great Britain are obsessed with Iran; and its possible they will self destruct because of this obsession. Which would leave China and Russia to pick up the pieces from their middle east adventures. Its a great chess game. Unfortunetly innocents pay with their lives.
The Green revolution, well planed and paid for,by the Western Fascist Imperial Alliance, is at work within the Iranian Nation, hoping it become under its control,so its resources can be plundered once again, and bring the Iranian Nation into the ZIONNATO Tyrannic Umbrella, for more bases,to help spread its domination and Global Oppression with the dream of total World Control,Domination,And the Enslavement of the Rest of Humanity. If the Primitives with these views, steal believe in the possibility of this being accomplished, must be dreaming, because soon after they wake up,they will realize their battle is lost, and probably soon,we all free ourselves from this Present Oppressive regime,we are under,in the name of democracy, freedom, and human rights. It is time this Brutal Oppressive system be stop,d so we and the rest of Humanity can at last, leave in Peace and cooperate with each other rather than confront one another.
This is really a pathetic strategy of Americans, they just like to see countries destroyed which do not follow their rules, Overthrowing of 1950 government by CIA (America), which Barack Obama accepted too, is being repeated. I will like to see Russia and their allies supporting and Iran against the ill will of Americans. I am 100 % sure there are some links leading to US and UK and may be their allies too. Saudi Arabia is playing a major role in this aftermath. It is really sad to see Iranians falling in trap of these false democratic hoods.
LOL @ J .. you must be a comedian ... "you" fight for domination and money . There is no real democracy in the western countries at least not on the subjects that really matter. So you can shut your "democratic" brainwashed point of view up yours .... and we keep doing what we do best .. not being a puppet of the westblok.
The fuss going on Iran is idiotic, there is a fare election held & the results are 90% correct .the reason of this problem seems that the most urban votes went anti-Nijad ,being in the city these votes result came earlier than the rural ones so at first it seemed that MOSAWII was at lead ,but as the result from more conservative rural areas started to arrive, these votes have changed the balance of the election up side down resulting in the NIJAD victory. from this one can reach the conclusion of the pro-NIJAD rallies, because the unlike urban areas they have no time to make a clip of them selves & post it on the net.I think that is also a reason of not finding videos or images of protest & rallies against the electoral procedure, from rural regions or relatively small towns. thanks to RT
The western medias don't care about green, yellow, blue revolutions or any kind of peoples. They obey to their masters who are the puppets of capitalist corrupted politicians and businessmen. The USA and their NATO croonies have fomented governments' overthrows and assassinations. They have sponsored dictators and still do it all over the World. They don't care about peoples. All they want is the control of the natural ressources and imposition of their way of life. Their cynism is so big than if you look closely at the situation, you realize that the vast majority of the american citizen are the first victimes of this "marvellous" system. To manage such an insane situation, one must insure that the population is fanatised and kept as dum as possible (Julius Cesar said 2000 years ago: governing idiots is so much easier than leading educated peoples). In the seventhies, when I lived near Seattle, a survey proclamed that the average US citizen knew about 500 words. In the present situation, you must not forget than Iran is very rich and near Russia. The old same strategy goes on uncercling Russia and controling all strategic locations in the whole asian continent. The "Barnum-Obama-Circus" will change nothing to it; because that president (like his predecessors) is nothing else than a "puppet" who knows perfectly well the distance between the White-House and Arlington-Cemetary. He is just a comedian obeying to those who have the money and the real power; nothing else ! There is a very simple and easer way to impliment an other worldwide governance; about which I have already written. This will bring more justice, equality, mutual respect. It is nothing else that following the 1780s' American Constitution' principes (All men are created equal; nobody is above the law; etc.) and practicing what America does to others. When it serve their interests, the USA are the champion for boycotting and ambargo those who displease them (Example how many times have they ambargo french cheeses or champagne-wines. What also happen to Cuba !)... Why could the 95% of humans who are not US citizen deceide not to smoke Marlboro cigarettes, not to drink Coca-Cola, not to eat Mc-Donald's hamburgers, not to fly on Boeing planes etc. We could also require that all planetary institutions be removed from the US territory. This will be in application until America stop her hegemonial politic, remove all her military installations located ouside her territory (including the anti-missiles shield) and stop interfering in other peoples' life. I can bet you that such a decision will quickly wake-up the american people who will remove the few thousands creeps who have created as much misery for them as for the rest of the World... Naturally to see a real grasp of conscience taken by the other main countries' politicians is an other story. They love so much all that planetary diplomatic furbery, lack courage and some think, either to beat America at her own game or just wait for her implosion, as it happened to the Soviet-Union. In both cases, it will be very, very dangerous. The change must come from within America; with her through friends' help. Sincerely; a very concerned old terrian, anxious about the future generations... Jean-Claude Meslin
What do you mean America wants free and fair elections?? George Bush stole the election in America, with the whole world watching!! And how come America is not condemning the Georgian government for violence against protesters there? This whole circus smells of Russia and Russia’s gas. With no major supplier in sight for their precious Nabucco project, the Americans are inciting violence in Iran in order to install a puppet regime, so they can finally free the EU from Putin’s gas. But this is all wishful thinking, Mousavi will not sell his people to the West. And there is no way that Mousavi won the elections, this is just like the riots in Moldova, which also smelled of alienating Russia. This is the last act of a desperate super-power, we all know that America will fall within the next few years, hyper-inflation, dollar devaluation: inevitability.
The world portrays America as this dumb, fat, greedy nation led by puppet leaders. America portrays the world as jealous, poor, primitive nations that do not know the taste of freedom. Our freedom has given us the security and abilities to develop technologies to make our lives easier. Yes, with those unbounded freedoms people tend to get dumb, and fat, and pompous. BUT NOT ALL PEOPLE. I will say again. America is a land of many DIFFERENT people. When I hear slander against America its always COLLECTIVE insults, as if the American people are one dumb blob. Misinformation spreads like a disease when you don't have the freedom to think for yourself, WORLD. How about you put yourselves in our shoes and try to succeed in life instead of griping about anyone who makes more than you. You act like our influence overseas is a poison to the world. Well we want for the world what has made us SUCCEED, and that is democracy. America is stupid? How stupid do you have to be to not even give your country a fair election? Or freedom of speech? We have freedom of the press that means no propaganda here, and if there is, there is another side of the press that will point it out. Take your head out of your ass George Bush did not steal the election in 2000. Yes he received less votes but that is not how our election process works. Florida was a close race. Whoever won Florida's popular vote would win Florida's electoral votes and win the Presidency. The vote was so close they had to do a re-count. Guess who won that re-count? George Bush. Of course, by the time those results came in he was already president by Supreme Court decree, and the media hardly reported it so no one remembered it. He did not steal the election, he won it by the second closest margin in U.S. history and Gore supporters did THEIR version of the Iranian protests- they hated G.W.B. for 8 years. About the comments that America is "imploding." Sure times are bad here but NOTHING even CLOSE to a depression. The housing market crashed, but people are still buying houses. Too many home loans were given out to people who could not afford them, and some people who COULD afford their mortgage payments couldn't once food and gas prices rose to record levels in 07/08. Unemployment is rising and the auto industry has suffered. Auto parts suppliers have suffered greatly also. However, America will not sit in its hole and wait to be buried. We are passing many energy initiatives to give companies the confidence to switch to manufacturing green technologies. Example: a company in my state is one of the best known yacht makers in the world. They had to layoff many workers in the past few years because no one is buying yachts anymore. Well now they are using their same technologies (composites) to make wind turbines. Just last week there was an announcement that 5000+ jobs will be created over the next 10 years by 4 different companies in our area. We will be fine. 2010 may bring more hardships, but we will be fine in the end. Sorry if that bursts your bubble. The American people are not as dumb as you want or were taught to think. I am glad to hear Gazza state an argument that the election results in Iran could have been correct. I do not agree with him, but I am glad to finally hear a halfway intelligent thought on that side of the subject. When the results first came in I too gave them credit, but was SMART ENOUGH to be skeptical of them considering the kind of man that "won." Yes, perhaps the two thirds of Iran that voted for Ahma are in rural areas with no way to get their voice out. Perhaps the millions protesting in the streets are misinformed and simply lost the election by many, many, many millions of votes. Maybe they are poor losers. But ask yourself this. Did you really think Ahma was going to give it up that easily? Did you really think he would simply step down to someone who received more votes than him? Or do you think that he is the kind of leader that would put steps in place long before the election that ensures he stays in power?

It is obvious that Western Media overexaggerate the things. 65% for Ahmadinejdad is a Great WIN and it is a sign to the West that West should change its colonial thinking!!!
