In an exclusive interview with RT, the Head of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Rene van der Linden, spoke about his experience with Russia including the ups and downs he's witnessed while President.
“Let me start with the high points. For me it was really a tremendous experience. I've invested so much in the relationship with Russia. I created an excellent relationship with NGOs, politicians and representatives of the government. May I especially note the address of Partriarch Aleksy to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. It was so meaningful for both parts – not only for politics but for ordinary citizens. It showed that there's reconciliation, co-operation, mutual understanding, respect and tolerance between not only politicians but between religions and citizens,” he said.
