Ehud Barak, the Israeli Defense Minister, met with his Russian counterpart Anatoly Serdyukov on Monday to strengthen bilateral security agreements, as well as pay tribute to Russia's sacrifices in World War II.
Ehud's a thoroughly nasty bit of work who bears full responsibility for war crimes and time and again, has thrown his full support behind those IDF boys...Sadly, Russia's decided to throw huge amounts of money at them too...It's hard to see how impartiality can be maintained as a Quartet member when all involved are seen to be cozying up to the Aggressor??? It's all about the shekels!
Boycotts, Divestments and Sanctions..will do a lot more good than Tony and the Boys anyway!
Russia built the biggest mosque in Grozny, one example of how to battle terrorism not make miltary pacts with Israel. Strange, Israel sold drones and equipment to Georgia that killed Russian peace keepers, now Russia buys drones from Israel. Russia should be more concerned about the US and Britain covertly causing trouble in the Caucases, who armed the KLA, the Muslims in Bosnia, bombed the bridges on the Danube, armed Georgia etc.,equipped and trained Osama Bin Laden to kill Russian troops, Yes, Russia should attempt to have good relations with Israel but to sign pacts with them as a reason to fight terrorism is counter productive. I have one question, is a country like Russia that can probe Mars unable to build their own drones that they have to sign pacts with Israel the 51st, state of the US, and perhaps looked at by billions of Muslims unfavorably. Is that worth it? Or has AIPAC the powerful Jewish lobby here in the US that controls all politicians opened up a branch in Moscow? Fred,,......oregon usa

Commentator 5 obviously does not seem to know that in the ME Israel is viewed as an aggressive and a destructive state. It wants to destroy the palestinians and reduce them to the status of blacks in South africa during the Apartheid era. Its main method is that of collective punishment on populations: a) In Gaza 2 million people are subjected to a medieval blockade and siege depriving them of basic necessicties b) In the west bank hundreds of road checkponts are used to deprive the inhabitants from any chance of decent living c) In Lebanon three million fragmantation bombs were seeded the last 3 days of the war so that people cnnot cultivate their orchards d) R Obadia now calls for the obliteration of all palestinians. The party of this fellow is part of the Netanyahu govdernment. This process will never end.

Barak's visit to Moscow is simply an attempt to dissuade Moscow from following its own policy in the ME. The current discussions betwenn Abbas ad Netanyahu will lead nowwhere. The israelis will keep on ethnically cleansing the palestinians from the west bank. They will be pushed into smaller and smaller enclaves. This is a south africa style policy. The only realistic policy involves a push by the US and Russia to force Israel back to their 1967 borders. This policy is not likey in the near future. Russia should stop expending moral and political capital by giving cover to Israel's war like activities.
