The "chosen" ones draw courage and bravery fighting unarmed and helpless victims.

The quote: “modern arms systems can upset the balance” is a real gem. What hypocricy. Firstly there is not any 'balance' in the region - Israel with its pick of the latest American weapons (all thanks to the US tax payer), and its vast arsenal of Illegal nuclear arms (also mostly paid for by the US tax payer), is very much in control of the region, to the point of dominating its neighbours. The thought of any neighbour being in a position to defend themselves - thats right - I said defend - not attack, seems to install fear in the corridors of power in Tel-Aviv.

It is OK for Israel to sell up to date offencive Wepons to Georgia to attack Russia but it is not OK Russia to sell it to its allies because Israel wants to kill them like a sitting ducks. The chosen ones have a very interesting way of dealing with the international community as if they are from Alfa Draconi Constelation.

All weaponry delivered to Israel from the U.S. is "Defensive, all Russian Hardware to the region will also be 'Defensive'...the American enabling of Israeli excesses is a 'Criminal Act' in itself and should, quite rightly, be countered by a new Russian Regional Approach...no other Nation can counter Israeli/U.S. Arrogance.

russia is becoming untrustworthy state under the present president where foreign countries dictate the policy of the country. America or isreal does not listen or pressure by any country. Russia interest should over ride any image of so call democratic norms that works only when it suits them. Russia should sell ammunition to any coumtry that wants it as long as it does not threaten the russian federation and its interest.

kevin Israel is using its own media and the international media to frame a perception that it can dictate Russia’s foreign policy in the same way it can and does shape the U.S foreign policy and EU foreign policy toward the ME. But Russia is making its own pragmatic decision in the ME. The weapons in question are clearly defensive in nature and Russia and according to the latest remark by Kremlin suggest that Russia will honour its weaponry transfer deal with Syria. http://en.rian.ru/russia/20100828/160376377.html

The U.S. and to some extent France has been arming Israel this last few decades. It is the strongest military power in the region. When Hezbollahs tried to abduct two of it's soldiers in 2006 it brazenly launched an air assault in Lebanon that resulted in thousands of civilian casualties and massive destruction of properties. My point is the balance of power in this region must not be so heavily in favor of Israel; to deter it from launching unilateral air assaults on it's neighbor. Of course Israel would like to stop this sale of defensive missile system to Syria, it's going to jeopardize their future plans to bomb Syria.

Israel's high tech weapons systems are so advanced that a few hundred cruise missiles will not even make any difference. Israel is probably the best trained with the most advanced military equipment in the world. It would be suicide for Muslim/Arab countries to go to war with Israel. They would all wind up like the Egyptians during the SIX DAY WAR. There is no credible force in the region that could stand up to the Jewish fire power.

It's ok for Israel to assist the US in arming and training Georgian forces, giving way to the killing of Russian peace keepers and citizens in South Ossetia, but Russia is putting "poor innocent" Israel in danger by selling arms to Syria.???... that's no concern of Russia, why did Israel sell drones and other sophisticated weapons to Georgia and continues to do it. Perhaps Russia will get a deal going, There's a heap of money in Israel that was snuck out of Russia by the Jewish oligarchy in the nineties; Israel can afford paying Russia for not making a deal with Syria...Although, Russian has it's pride and that's not going to happen , Russia showed the US and the West when they completed the nuclear reactor in Iran and that this is not the Russia of the nineties. Pay back time is in progress!!!! red...oregon,usa

The Israeli government is the personified coward. Tyranic and despotic over the weakness and submissive and obedient (making use of diplomacy) in front of the wealthy and powerful ones. Israel believed to be capable to intimidate and press (partner of Georgian government) Russia an its allies. I think the best chess player (Russia) is begining to move its pieces.

When will someone point out to Netanyahu that there is no such thing as Israel? They must get out of the ME and go back to Poland and Germany and Russia, where they come from. Those poor Arabs lived in peace until the time the Europeans stole Palestinian land and gave it to the Jews. When will all this hypocrisy end?

I am glad that Russia is doing what it is doing. Israel will attack Lebanon and its other Arab neighbors , it is only a question of when. Selling weapons to the Syrians will serve as a temporary deterrent. Israel will attack. It is not going to let its defeat in 2006 go by without payback. It is the Zionist attitude. By NOT selling weapons to the Syrians or the Hezbollah for the matter would be suicide for any hope for peace within the region. Terrorism by definition means the calculated use of violence against civilians in order to attain its goals. If we look in this correct perspective, it is clear who the real terrorist is. The tie and the fancy suit should not fool us.

At this pace Russia could lose all its clients: China, because it is a Dictatorship; Iran, because it is a theocracy; Venezuela, because it is anti-America...India, at least for now, is becoming a close friend of the U.S. who was the ally of Pakistan in the past..The truth is that the U.S. has been taking former Russian markets (first of all, new NATO members like Poland) during the last decade. The only which escaped from American control was Venezuela. So the question is difficult: Russia is eager to be a good ally of the U.S., but for commercial reasons has to send weapons to countries which America doesn´t like.

They will not be transferred to Hizbullah more likely limited number to Iran covertly to counter the 5th Fleet, strengthen the second and third maritime defensive lines in the Gulf of Oman. Syria does not need that amount of missiles for their own purposes. The older missiles will be given to Hizbullah. There is not going to a war anyway, not anymore. Iran is going to be a nuclear power, hence NATO and the defense shield, the 60 Billion sale of arms to the Saudi's. Everyone had a grumble and showed their displeasure and now it is over. The problem with sanctions in the end force a country to complete what the sanctions are intended to prevent, otherwise to be under sanctions and not complete the build of a nuclear bomb is not rational. Why put the country through pain and not have anything to show for it. This is why sanctions should not be used in such cases if a military option is not on the table. This is part one of a much larger game, Iran and Russia want the same thing the removal of US bases from the Mid East. Israel as in the 60's, 70's and early 80's is merely a proxy stuck between the US and Russia. Iran and Syria are proxies used by Russia as the used the Arab's during the same period. The great game continues. Iran is going to want a second strike capability as they do not have the capability to deploy a sub-surface counter, it is likely that nuclear missiles under IRG command and control will be deployed in the Be'eka valley in the future, similar to the Cuban missile crisis. If 10 years ago people said that Hizbullah would have Scud missiles in Lebanon no one would have believed you. This may well be the case in relation to this issue as well. It may be like the Scud's it cannot be confirmed or denied if they are deployed inside Lebanon. What I know of the Iranians it would not surprise me if that occurs and I would assume that to be the case and proceed with caution.
