The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is continuing to divide the Middle East. RT sat down with journalist and author Jonathan Cook who says that Israel actually benefits from the division.
Which alien planet has Johnathan Cook arrived from.No comment ,gets tiring reading idiots, or answering, giving us they assumptions.Leave our broadcasters to be attentive, probably lack of intelligence keeps them interested.PS Probably another comment will be omitted.
Agree with the author 100%. If Iran was so bad as portrayed how can 30000 Jews live in perfect harmony in Iran. Israel is waging an ugly dishonest propaganda to hoodwink the world.Israel is a nuclear power with evil intentions the world has to watch out.
This author is so bias against Israel & talks as if he knows the situation. He thinks that Palestinians who never wanted to be part of Israel & live to destroy Israel should be given equal rights in Israel. How can that be? If you want to destroy it & don’t recognize its right to exist or defend itself, then why should you be allowed to live in it....Palestini need to prove they are willing to live in peace in Israel & only then can their situation begin to change….
In an ideal world neither Israel nor Iran would have any nuclear weapons, but we are not in an ideal world. Israel has shown its true face in recent years and in my opionion it is not a pretty one. The current government of Israel seems more intent on regional dominance than regional peace. Fortunatly for the region, the world community is begining to see that critism of Israeli policy is not the same as critisim of Jews - something that the Israelis had spent many decades trying to link together in order to prevent hard questions being asked. Once Israel realises that they can no longer act with impunity we may begin to see a more equatable and stable middle east, but don't expect to ever see them give up their nukes. By the way - a two state solution is doomed - Israel and the US will not allow the Palastinians to control anything meaningful. As for a one state solution Israel cannot afford to allow the palastinians to be part of Israel as their political voices would change Israel within a couple of generations. So - more of the same for the next few years at least. As for mutually assured destruction, Iran and Israel are close to that already, Israel currently have the upper hand, but a high yeild device in the hands of Iran will change everything and is actually more likely to bring peace to the region. It would certainly stop all talk of war with Iran. As with most of the 'ills' currently being experienced in the world, the cause (s) can be mostly tracked back to the action or inaction of various US agencies or administrations - pick a couple at random and trace them back yourself and see what I mean - you will find some sort of US involvement.
Actualy the only solution to the problem is to acheive a balance by allowing Iran develop its full nuclear capability. This is the only way to control the bully and put it back in its little stolen box.
Fine! well are they going to make the same ruling on South Ossetia and Abkhazia or not? Bet not, they will find another loop hole not to make their independence legal.
The author of this article is quite right when he states that Israel threatened to use nuclear weapons against both Egypt and Syria during the 1973 war. The strategy of the Egyptians at the time was one that was created by the then Soviet Union. Up til that time the Soviet Union was not happy about supporting the Arab countries with weaponry since the Arab countries could not become a cohesive force and for that reason their previous attempts to liberate Palestine failed. Therefore they created the strategy for Egypt to retake the Suez Canal and go no further than 20 kilometers or so into the Sinai and then dig in. Their attack was. 1. To, block the oil lines that led into the canal, which were to be set on fire by the Israelis if Egypt attacked. 2. Bulldoze the sand barriers away. 3. Send in specially trained troops, armed with the new Sam shoulder fired missiles, and dig into the dessert. The result was that they completely destroyed Israels tank forces. They completely destroyed Israels Air Force. This left Israel totally open for Egyptian troops to have advanced straight into Israel itself. But that was not the strategy and that is the reason they did not attempt to do so. Israel at that point did threaten to use nuclear weapons. It was Sadat who demanded from the Soviet Union and the US that they station troops on the Suez Canal. Both the Soviets Union and the US agreed that there must be a ceasefire. The US at the same time shipped out to Israel vast quantities of weaponry, including tanks and fighter jets. Israel then broke the ceasefire when Sharon made the plan to surround the main Egyptian Army. Why do you think the Egyptians never fired a shot in defense, they held to the ceasefire, Israel broke it. In the end came the agreement between Sadat and Menachim Begin. It was widely publicized at the time, that Sadat was doing a deal with a one time terrorist. Begin was a terrorist and at one stage wanted by the British. Israel does have nukes.
Israel have waved the nuke card many times in the past. We must not forget that Israel publically warned Sadam Hussain (and the world) that they would use nuclear weapons against his cities during the first Gulf War. The warning of 'swift and massive' destruction if a scud missile armed with a chemical warhead landed on Israeli soil was widely understood to mean a nuclear responce........
Johnathan speaks the total truth.
At Josh, who wrote: "Israel's concerns are Iran starting a nuclear arms race in the region..." -- As if Israel didn't start that nuclear arms race in the region already by acquiring nuclear weapons decades ago?!? Look in the mirror, for once. As for Israel and the Palestinians, the wider, longer term vision of "Eretz Yisrael" (meaning, "Greater Israel"), as set forth more than a century ago by the likes of the founders of political Zionism like Theodor Herzl and Rabbi Fischmann, involves inevitably stretching that land grab from the Nile to the Euphrates Rivers. People in the region are aware of that fact.
It is Israel's manifest destiny to always rule over nonjews around the world. After all, they are the most inivative and business savy people on the planet. They control the world's monetary systems and have the best military equipment, both conventional and nuclear, than any potential adversary. It would be sheer suicide for any Arab/Muslem country to go to war with Israel. They would be vanquished in short order. The rest of the world has to get used to the fact that ISRAEL RULES.

Wow shows how little you know about the history of the conflict, Israel never threatened the US with using the nukes love to see the source where you pulled that from, and Israel still had well over 50% of it's ammunition when America sent them ammunition, meaning they had no need and didn't even use the ammunition that America sent, is was a symbolic gesture and nothing more that was in response to all the tanks, weapons, and ammunition that Russia was sending to the Arabs, but this is just one incident where Israel had apparently threatened to use a weapon they never admitted having, I would be really interested in hearing about the other times that they had threatened to use it. Israel's concerns are Iran starting a nuclear arms race in the region, it will off set the balance of power, but Israel will be fine and won't lose it's place, it will affect America's arab allies, why do you think Israel's enemy in Saudi Arabia has granted it air space if Israel were to bomb Iran's nuclear facility.
