He was a great man indeed. But what a load of bullshit and sensationalist writing when you state that he had plastic surgery 3 times to enter Chile with a false name. He was a true hero, a person who stuggled side by side with his people against the facist regime. He was a public man, a courageous man who showed his face to the dictator. I am Chilean from the generation that saw him return to Chile and fight against the dictatorship - with no signs of any plastic surgery I must add. Ah, and I am not a communist. Please get real!

Yes a great man. His generation are passing. I was in Lisbon on the day of Álvaro Cunhal's funeral and the city was a sea of red. Once the working class were led by great men, but today we are led by venal dwarves in Armani suits.
