Green light for March of Millions - Moscow mayor’s office
May 04, 2012 08:31
Moscow City authorities have given permission for a march and a rally of various groups of non-system opposition on May 6. The organizers say that about 5,000 people will attend the event, which they informally call a “March of millions”.
You want RT to stop paying attention to a group of 5000 people? So then why do you approve when RT keeps talking about a few dozen protesters in American cities for OWS? Or better yet, how do you know the protesters in American cities aren't foreign paid people? Do you see how hypocritical you guys sound?
@ proletariat: Yes, Russians do live in mass poverty, except when the oligarchs were in power the poverty was 45% in Yeltsin's era. Now that Putin is in power the poverty is around 10-15%. But for some reason there were no mass protests during Yeltsin's against "the party of thieves and crooks", because Yeltsin was doing the work of the western governments, which is completely destroying russia. Then a patriot of Russia, Putin, was sneaky enough to befriend the oligarchs like ber ezovsky and became president, obviously he knew the evil work of thugs like ber ezovsky, and now berezovsky is living in asylum in the UK. These protests are being heavily financed by the west and of course berezovsky (he hates the slavic race, he isn't slavic himself). Why did the US not finance these protests during the Yeltsin era when the population was shrinking even more rapidly than it is today, and things were a million times worse in Russia than it is today. The opposition is taking advantage that people aren't living as good as they should, comparing it to western standards, that's true that the majority of russians will never live that good, because of greedy business ow ners, but Putin has no control over that, these people have billions of dollars and if they wanted to they could easily hire a hitman to kill him. The point is Putin is doing his best to improve Russia but it's almost impossible when you have to deal with so many corrupt buisness people who made their fortunes illegally during the Yeltsin era, and the stupid opposition who keeps constantly twisting the reality, to gain support.
@ Count Cash, good observation. I also suspect the name of the march will be accurate if the organizers call it "March of Million $." I am sure it costs the US State Department that much to organize an opposition rally.
A brilliant move by the Moscow city officials. The 1Million march is now the march of 5000 foreign paid cynics, the misguided brainwashed! I said it already the figure of million march was a sponsored lie and what they were hoping for is permission to march be denied so they can claimed suppression of freedom to march! But now they have the permission to march they can only secure 5000 people in city of 15M people. Now could RT finally stop paying attention to this tiny but aggressive group?
@proletariatIt is obvious that you are just a boy. Where were you in 1989 and early 1990s when poverty was walking unclad on the streets of Russia? You sound like a Libyan rebel. Thesame line was used there and who is suffering for it now? Libyans! Libya's wealth has helped stabilize the fragile economy otherwise Spain and Italy would be dead economically by now. With Russia wealth under America's control then they can always pay off their debt to China and doom for Russians. Ocuppy yourself man not Russia. Russia is a more free land than the EU
It will be interesting to see if this turns out to be a march of millions of dollars or a march of millions of ideas and possibilities. The evidence will be in the agenda - will it be a destructive wrecking one, an approach we have come to expect from the ‘opposition’ of liars deceivers and paid agents, to suit their western paymasters, or will it somehow be transformed into what is needed, a fertile bed of constructive ideas and positive civil pressure. Only time will tell, but at the moment, given the current failed ‘opposition’ leadership, there must be doubt as to whether there can be a positive outcome for them. Indeed it is looking ever clearer, that the ‘opposition’ leadership and not Putin, is the biggest hurdle to overcome for a strong positive civil society movement to take root and expand in Russia. Given this situation, the rank and file who want to be active in change, may need to direct their efforts at their own organisation first, electing able leadership and forming a constructive platform of ideas and policies, before they just get led down a cul-de-sac of troublemaking by failed less than honest leaders, ones who have more an eye on the US embassy, rather than on Russia’s strong development.
Everyone, let's occupy Red Square and trash the boutiques and banks along Tverskaya! Years of capitalist corruption has led to millions living in poverty in Russia and struggling to make ends meet, moral degradation and greed beyond all bounds, vanity and profligacy among the nuovo riche and shocking afflu ence among the few which breeds arrogance and envy. I have nothing and some of those capitalist pigs, oligarchs, corrupt government officials from the party of thieves and crooks and banksters have everything. Why does it make me feel bad? Because I have no opportunity to share in their wealth! They have run ahead leaving all of us behind. They are enjoying the fruits of capitalism when we have to save every kopek to survive in their overpriced society. They have stolen our country, they have grabbed our money. They owe us a debt and we should take what is ours! End their rule, end private property! Nationalise everything for the people! Impose a one political party system! All power to the soviets and the people! Viva la revolucion! Trash Sberbank! Protest outside Gazprom! Picket the Business Centres! Occupy now! Civil disobedience until we the people the 99% get what rightfully belongs to us! Occupy Russia!
