President Dmitry Medvedev and his Abkhazian counterpart Sergey Bagapsh have signed ten bilateral deals, including an agreement to establish a military base in Abkhazia.
its about time.
I think it would be prudent for the Russians to have more than one base on the Black Sea. The new Ukrainian president sounds as if he is agreeable to extending the lease on the existing naval base, but that may not always be the case. If the Russian navy can negotiate mutually beneficial terms with the Abkhazians, they should build a backup to the main base in Ukraine. That is probably already the plan.

Absolutely flawless and exiting to see both nation's at the Conference standing shoulder to shoulder with each other, and to add to the mix a Russo-Abkhaz military base too in Abkhazia, I cannot believe how far and fast Abkhazia has come into their Independent stance in the world. This is what Russia is truly about Progress, and progress is the key word. I also agree with both president's that the current regime in Georgia needs to be taken to court over the War Crimes that happened in the August 2008 War that Georgia had done to both Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Also I fully support this Russian Military Base in Abkhazia and hopefully re-open Abkhazia's Airport in Sukhumi to try and rebuild Abkhazia to their Natural beauty.
