Changes to Russia's defense laws are on the cards, a year after the country sent in the army to defend South Ossetia when it was attacked.

Where there is smoke there is fire. Where there is a military presence there is a preparedness for the obvious - military intervention. What other agenda can a dying beast have than to devour whatever moves to ease the suffering of an insanity incapable of life.

The proposed changes are good! I hope it will be in force soon.Russia can not anymore afford to wait, for war to come on theirs borders(as all the time in history-with a high price to pay) -they have to act in advance and also protect states-partners.This is verry important-not only protect Russia, but also peaceful and partner states!! That means multipolar world as only option for a peace on planet . Well done!

As a UK citizen & someone who served many years in the British Royal Navy you may be surprised to hear that I actually admire this change, it's good to see a country that is prepared to protect it's citizens & stand up to terorists, pirates & the like. Unlike the UK who seem to just want to be nice to everyone, hoping that in turn they will be left alone....wrong.
