Medvedev: single world reserve currency pre-conditioned the crisis

The World Economic Forum in St. Petersburg has started with a keynote speech from Dmitry Medvedev. He criticized the global economic system and put forward a number of solutions.

President Medvedev is right when he says that "No national currency should be appointed to the world’s reserve. The task of the Russian Federation is to make the Ruble a more attractive, convenient and reliable method of transaction for all those ready to use it.” The dominance of the US Dollar is no longer viable since this has dramatically increased the speculation and led to disastrous results thoughout the world markets and economies. There are other countries such as Russia, China, India and Brazil which have the potential to create a more stable and fairer economic system than the one sided, many times politiccally motivated one favouring the USA and western countries, which currently is operating. I also agree with his policy objective to diversify the Rrussian economy to ensure a succesfull, stable future for Russians. Innovation and technology are two areas that Russia could really excel and futher support the objective of a multipolar world.
