"The well-known campaigner was working for the Russian Independent Human Rights organization “Memorial” in Chechnya. She was also a close friend of the prominent Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya, who was killed in 2006 outside her home in Moscow." The only problem is that it is not independent her organisation is financed by the CIA through NED and Mrs Politkovskaya sources are ALL NED, Soros (HRW) affiliated the same CIA since the 79 and expanding the network into Europe in the 90's in Bosnian and the Caucasus in 89 which explains why we have the exact same regurgitated propaganda now debunked reported in the Balkans against the Serbs. Or the proof including video tape evidence of the moderate leadership of Maskhadov planning of the Nord Ost theatre siege and the attack in Ingushetia in 2004. And the fact that the Chechen exiled government is on the payroll of NED and western intelligence and governments since the break up of the USSR have been creating, training and supporting international Chechen terrorist/crime network to fuel the insurgency. Unlike Peter Leivelle or Robert Bruce Ware, Politkovskay never visited the Caucasus region once between the de-facto state of 97-99.

@ johnx, I believe you, but whoever is behind "Memorial" is not important any more. Just the picture of another dead activist gives the whole country a black eye in public relations. I hope the Russian government is open about this investigation and reveals who ordered her death. NGOs with murky backgrounds can be fought with publicity, but shooting activists is a trap. (I am guessing a lower-level person in the one of the regions' governments told somebody to kidnap her, but it could easily have been a bandit from outside Russia acting on orders from a foreign organization. Either way, it makes Russia look bad in the propaganda war.)

Being a HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST is sometimes a very dangerous profession. People who participate in these endeavors know that their personal safety is at risk, but their objectives override their fear of death.
