The Russian edition of Newsweek magazine has reported that Russia is planning to move toward a more pragmatic foreign policy in dealing with Western countries.
Russia's Newsweek seems to be as bankrupt as its American version. There is absolutely no revelation in the "leak" and anybody following the current global developments will find it an extremely boring reading.
@ PR 101, agreed, it sounded like a test of the Kremlin grapevine.
This global corporate world means everything is for money. They are just selling their journal. Even this article, with its title, draws your eye to it. A lot of media outlets are intimately intertwined with the government. So PR 101 is quite correct. I haven't read the Newsweek version, but I assume there is also no source listed for this information. The public is now led by a leash in global affairs.
This isn't a leak of a new policy but an accountants view of the current policies of the Russian government. They have been pursuing this policy of active engagement with Western countries for years. What has changed is the international environment. A world wide economic crisis has pushed trade to the top of every Western politicians agenda. Now every business deal with Russian companies or the Russian government acquires a moral glow. No politician (except perhaps an American one) suggests limiting the business activities of Russian companies in their country. In this environment only spectacular incompetence bv the Russian government can prevent a very positive change in its relations with Western states(and the EU)
The trouble with the Americans ,they never learnt that saying, the brain is mightier than brawn,it failure is it own fault, its fear of socialism, thru ignorance,is a fact, hence why most of it best friends in foriegn countries have be ousted,When they learn that its friends in non western countries are self interested, then dont be amazed, why its people blame the Americans.P.S. Probably a bit late to regain trust from other non western countries, hence its demise.Times have changed we now live in a globilisation invoirement, the Russians have never really been overzealous in ties, business it has been doing ,and its interest where it has been necessay,it has followed up with. And probably intends to join in the globilisation which has brought down commerical barriers. The simple fact which most Politicans cant comphrehend, that all humans have the same basic desire ,it is the welfare of its family, differences is indoctrinated to suit the politicans agenda The conclusion ,remove ignorance, and distorted ideaology across the planet, and probably we all be a lot better off.
Hahaha! With this information, with this precise in depth accounting of Russia's critical weaknesses now made public, we will trounce it at the Sochi olympic games! Good job Newsweek! Our den of spies is succeeding fantastically!
Russia has a history of coming back from the brink of disaster but about the U.S.? Can U.S. handle major crises? We can the U.S economy manage 2 wars, 700 foreign bases, diminishing industrial production? We see some bad signs in the U.S.-the Tea Party, gun collection, proliferation of creationist thought, xenophobic hysteria against brown skinned immigrants, healthcare crisis, Wall Street crisis. These are troubling symptoms of the things to the come in the U.S of A. You can spin Newsweek’s alleged leakage but I caution you to be care: the Russians are good at luring powerful nations in carefully camouflaged traps[ just look at what happened to Hitler’s army in the battle of Kursk].Russia is run by highly educated leaders with deep tradition and long history.

I guess Russia has purchased into the language of spin doctors! What does not it mean that foreign policy has been leaked? Does that mean that there is a “mole” in the foreign policy decision making body? I do not think if this was the case, the report would have published in Russia. So there is no leakage. There is a pin, it is called testing the waters with a deliberate leak. This is done all the time in the West in almost all the key issues- there is leakage and reaction and there release of the official report. I do hope that Russia did not pay lot of hard earned roubles for this type of PR job.
