I am always amused when Russia uses the term bandits instead of terms like terrorists and mafia like they are fighting some Wild West outlaw or Robin Hood and his merry men implying they have some honorary code of criminal conduct. Corruption seems to be a major problem in Russia but it is the North Caucasus own clan based feudal societies that fuel corruption an inherent cultural defect.

For some delusional young people, it is clear that they can and have been seduced by false promise of ever lasting paradise in the life after in exchange of committing atrocities. But the war in the Caucasus has all the hallmarks of foreign supported campaign to destabilise Russia. Why Russia’s leadership is not willing to look into history of Muslims not only in the Caucuses by other parts of the world to see that this phenomenon has no traditional support in Muslim societies and that this mode of destructive violence is supported by certain oil rich country that acts as a conduit for certain country that drives its geopolitical advantage by creating chaos.
