Why do I feel the U.S knows the war has been lost and that Obama will be the fall guy for this and that he will be a one term President and that General Petraeus wants to run in 2012 for Obama's job! This is a war fought in the media!

The reality is that Barak Hussein Obama will be a single-term president and out the door in 2012. He will have no impact on American occupation of Afghanistan. America's long-term strategic plans for Afghanistan span far beyond 2012. The power elite of America understand full well that there is a competition for world's scare resources, and the time to garner as much as possible is now before China and India get in the position to be serious competitors. In short, America will never let go of Afghanistan, unless such a decision is to her advantage. The mistake that some commentators make is to equate American invasion of Afghanistan with dismal performance of the USSR in 1980s. There is no comparison, because America has far more power at her disposal and has the backing of NATO. Russia went into Afghanistan with a WW II army and WW II mentality - and, that is why she lost. American military embarked on a type of warfare in Afghanistan and Iraq which has never seen before - a high tech warfare employing hundreds of thousands of contractors. Obama has absolutely no experience, nor talent to be the president of America. He will do what his Pentagon generals and the power elite tell him. Petraeus cleverly assures that the American people are with him by playing to their emotions.

First: There will be not total exit of Us troops at exit date...Bases are build in Avghanistan and minority of Usa millitary will stay there forever! That was objective of this "war on terror" ,along other new bases in Kirghistan,Tajikistan,Pakistan etc. Second: SSSR did not dissolve themself on Afhganistan war but by valid law/done in peaceful maner."Tear the wall down" was done by Russia wish...Usa and UK pressure Russia NOT TO DO JUST THAT but Russia done right! DO RESEARCH!Only after 6 years when SSSR left Afghanistan, Talibans hang president Najibulah and take power..If you left complete, your Karzai will not last 1 monts! In the peak SSSR have (with 2x less population and 2x less soldiers and contractors than Nato and rest) freed 89% of land from Talibans and yet today you keep only about 27-30% land under your control. In Soviet times drugs production was almost stoped at 0 but under Nato is 30 to 40x bigger that before you went in. Both wars(SSSR and Nato plus rest) been wrong....They where ilegall! Anyway I got impresion that this war can go on for next 100 years and it will not stop...! They will resist any foreign foot in their state till they are alive!... I like to add that is nothing dissrespectful in any case to stop war..War is the worse experience what people can see in their life time.. Pull out, save some people, womens, kids and also your people from death...In any war (in my opinion) up to now never was a real winer...Everyone is a big time looser. There is no power in the world to make alive those killed on both sides and in a long run they are only result of "victory"!...What is more GRACEFUL in this world ,if is not to stop the war and by that killings and human missery? Thank you.

Lets suppose it was a general in the Russian army that was going on TV to spell out his take on Russian foreign policy. That the general was saying that he decided when and where the Russian army went. And on all the questions concerning the occupation of another country it was the generals voice that counted. The entire Western media would enter a state of frenzy. We would have wall to wall coverage of the 'Military coup in Russia'. But once the subject is America the normal rules don't apply. General Petraeus clearly feels he already outranks President Obama. And if the Democrats do as badly in the elections in November as everyone expects then General Petraeus will outline more of his foreign policy. And will get Republican support for this usurpation of civil power. When Imperial powers are in continual large scale conflict the political power that grows from the barrel of the gun is as likely to strike the Empires heart as elsewhere.
