Different parties and movements have held rallies to mark the tragic events in South Ossetia. In Moscow, Communists were outside the US embassy protesting against the country’s policy in the Caucasus.
They believe the US helped arm and finance Georgia ahead of the war.
And at the capital’s Christ the Savior Cathedral, several youth movements plan to light candles as part of their “Candle of Memory” rally.
Thousands are also expected to take part in a moment of silence to honor the victims of the war.
