The US govt. keeps on dangling this START treaty above Russia, and will keep Russia in suspense regarding its approval so they can squeeze as much concessions from Russia over other issues, Iran, etc. Once the US has what it wants from Russia, it will vote down the START treaty. The US govt. did not negotiate this agreement in good faith and has no interest in passing it. It's just part of their sick political games. Russia in the end will end up with a bruised eye, with nothing to show for it, worse relations with certain countries and ruined economic opportunities.

This is off topic but I cannot resist posting this link on medical marijuana-which has been legal in Canada for more than five years. One RT reporter kept on repeating that medical marijuana is not legal anywhere in the world. The statement is plainly false. Not only is medical marijuana legal in Canada, marijuana use is also legal in Canada. I thought this report went to Toronto recently during the G8/G20 Meeting. Has she nott seen that marijuana use is perfect legal in Canada? As START passage is blocked as an example of "politics as usual"-what does this mean? Politics as usual in terms of the fact that "nuclear weapons" are really not different from another weapons and U.S lawmaters know this? http://www.cbc.ca/canada/manitoba/story/2009/07/21/mb-marijuana-medical-flin-flon.html

Sometimes I just wish that someone just slapped the US in the face real hard without them being the ones committing this on themselves. These stone age dinosaurs in Washington lacks all connection with reality it seems, COLD WAR IS OVER, get over it you won 20 years of being the only superpower in the world. Now live with it and accept that fact that you like everyone else is going down. China owns your ass, lets talk START and be friends shall we. sorry I had to get that out of my system.

Has the Russian legislating branch done anything to START, no. Russia needs to follow or get of America and the west's way.

Ratification of START is supposed to be synchronous between US and Russia. So everyone should calm down. @PR101 Medical marijuana has been legal in California for several years too.

It's a 'False Start' anyway, which could easily be overtaken by 'current events'. . . most of the world's (more deranged) 'High Ups' won't be signing up.
