It seems Iran was offered a helping hand in a good way by Russia. However we are now seeing what appears to be a deviation by Iran from the original situation. I of course being a "nobody" do not know the full details. Yet, when a point comes as was reported today that Iran has made threats against Russia and also allowed Osama Bin Laden to live there, it seems one must step back and discern the "total" situation. Similar threats were made against Israel; for what reason? In reading news reports Iran has boasted of supplying organizations (where and who should be asked by Russia) boasting of doing terrorists activities. You have seen what friends of the United States have done to the United States. I hope Russia has its southern "flank" protected well in the event of any contingancy! Much like a "school yard bully" verbally assulting or physically assulting someone, if the person does not respond to this he will be haunted by this for the rest of his life. It seems Mr. Putin is trying his best to resolve this situation, but one should remember such as in the forest if a person tries to deal with a skunk even in a good way; being too close, there may be dire results. My wish of success goes with Mr. Putin for the sake of many in this world.

The United States government and oil and military corporations and Israel have wanted to go to war with Iran for almost 10 years now. Most of the problems in the Middle East were caused by the US and Israel in the first place. Israel in the past week has used its military force illegally and they have nuclear weapons, but the US is not requesting any sanctions on Israel. Until the US and Israel are challenged and charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity for what was done in Iraq, Afghanistan and Georgia they will continue getting away with murder. The World should be demanding sanctions on the United States and Israel, until their officials have been brought to justice.

@ Paul You are absolutely right but United States is not a member of the International Tribunal (we all know why) and that it is why it will never be tried. United States is a super dictator on this planet. All nations all scared of it, with good reasons. Now, more and more people are asking Russia and China to do something. I am disappointed that Russia will not veto the resolution, very disappointed indeed. After all, Iran has accepted to swap its uranium, something that US had requested. This is all hypocrisy from Washington. Unfortunately, Obama is a carbon copy of Bush.

There is clearly a much more subtle process under the surface. Obama needs a face-saving device, and this is one of them. US may have committed itself to a solution --- which up until now it has not been clearly spelled out --- that may pave a way to defining NPT regulating the rights of non-nuclarly armed states to the nuclear cycle. The right is there to be used, but the moment any country insists that the program is for "nuclear weapons", the right is under the cloud of suspicion. So, we may see Brazilian-Turkish process continue. May be. It is quite possible that the internal consensus Obama bought to get sanctions, will unravel. As is the case often, these "agreements" fall apart as one party gets what it wants, and cannot be persuaded to fullfil its part of the bargain. Obama may learn this soon. It is possible that Russia and China already factored that in, that is, that Obama will not be able to deliver. In which case, sanctions are good thing as well on international front. Sun Tzu's advice: "Let your enemy make mistakes, and do not try to correct them" is applicable here. Insisting on sanctions is nullifying hundreds of millions US dollars injected into Iran's opposition. Opposition cannot but support Ahmedinejad. If Obama fails to spell out the end-game through Brazilian-Turkish deal, there will be a divergence in international community. As it is known, Brazil has got the brunt of US anger. Clearly, somebody in US was sure that Brazil was playing double game, and was to leave Turkey red-faced. Not only that it did not happen, but the deal was complete and real. If Obama is paralized on Iran, and the Gaza issue explodes, that works in Iran's favor. The bottom line: unless US spells out what exactly wants from Iran, the issue will not be solved, only shelved. And at times, diverted to another front.
