NATO will not attack Russia because NATO cannot attack Russia. NATO is doing anything and all things short of a direct military confrontation with Russia to undermine Russia. So what is where the new story in Rasmussen's claim that NATO will attack Russia?

The west always comes with fine words and evil deeds. Nato as part of the west, lives out this proposition to the full. Look at Serbia, look at Afghanistan. These people have been devastated by the Nato ideological colonial machine. Russia's fate is exactly the same, if we ever become weak. We would be invaded, tortured and raped, becuase it is good for us. Nato is only talking with fine words, because its economic basket is too empty to twist and destroy Russia, to deliver its evil deeds. We realise what the end game of Nato is, they have a single goal, military hegemony in support of Bankism to plunder us The route we should take should be non confrontational interference with this aim, whilst building increased security for us. This means rearming and building enhanced defensive military capability as fast as possible. This means new missiles, planes, ships, tanks..... It also means new military technology and it means military alliances with India, China .... The Nato mood will soon change to aggression once their economies come back, then they their fine 'never' words will change into 'might not' then will, will disapear and 'could' then 'must' will come. In the end it will be 'Nato must attack Russia'. The only way to keep the sentence as it is now, is defence through strength. Nato promises are not worth one rouble. Forget that and you can forget Russia. The west forms the greatest threat to Russia's existence, it always has and it always will. Unless there is a sea change in the west, demonstrated through actual deeds of Nato disarmament in Europe. We are not against anyone, the problem is that Nato is against us. We live in peace and go nowhere, but the truth is Nato cannot stop its craving for expansion and hegemony, under the control of its puppet master.

NATO will not attack Russia simply cos Russia is a nuclear superpower and more likely will lay waste to all NATO states before it can be beaten. A war with Russia will never end in a conventional military way. If Russia was just another Serbia or Iraq,It would have long been invaded to " protect democracy"

Did anybody believe his words? People that were present there surely didn't.

Thank you Sam for telling the real and only reason why NATO cannot and will not attack Russia: cos ,as you have noted correctly, Russia is a nuclear nation. It is pathetic that the rightwing head of NATO cannot see this!

Sarah December 17, 2009, 23:06 quote

we do know that NATO cannot attack Russia so why Mr. Rasmussen bring it up as an issue? There are perhaps many reasons for this but one thing is certain: NATO is using fake concessionary language as a charm offensive to disarm Russia politically whilst undermining Russia every step of the way in the hope encircling Russia with NATO weapons and NATO friendly nations!

It is about time that the west( NATO) says that it will not attack Russia. It can't unless Nato wants to get annialated with nukes. NATO will go the way of SEATO & METO. Remember Jonh Foster Dulles?

William December 18, 2009, 02:17 quote

NATO won't attack Russia and Russia won't attack NATO because neither can afford to take on the other. Even if all the nukes were disarmed this would probably still be true. Balances of power and strong economically symbiotic relationships decisively dissuade military conflicts. For this, and for philosophical reasons, 3 continents have achieved internal peace after over 10,000 years of war.

Thank you for telling us Rasmussen, we would have never known it?!?! Until your confirmation we were very worried. What a relieve feeling.

Completely miss the point in all of this. The words actually have an opposite effect. Like, we have been planning to attack you, but we have changed our mind. Trust us! Why are you so paranoid, when we actually as of today, do not plan to attack you any more! Do not worry about tomorrow! There was nothing genuine about the man. He looked contorted, Blair like, but without Blair's hellish grin. These people's faces show the inner consumption with power, balanced by the necessity for public performance in a semblance of a human body's shape. It seems more to be geared to the Russian public. Unlike the propaganda that Russians are paranoid, the opposite is true. Russians are gullable. And this performance is to say to the gullable --- we are your friends. Forget your paranoid leaders who insist on keeping us away from your borders. We come as friends. Our military hardware is there to protect you. It is a new day --- come on here, see this bright red shiny apple!!!

Bianca has detected the real intention of NATO towards Russia. Rasmussen has revealed NATO’s secret plans in the recent past that attack on Russia was on the table but from this day onwards that option has been ruled out. NATO’s encroachment around Russian borders, Radar and Missiles Interceptors in Czeck Republic and Poland, Georgian-Russian War in 2008 and Madeline Albright’s affirmation one decade ago when she was foreign secretary of state that US should have unrestricted access to Russian’s mineral resources is unequivocal prove that NATO’s attack on Russia was planned. My God, is the end of the World near by self destruction?

Folks, let's turn the argument around......."Why does RUSSIA want to attack NATO and the USA? Do you think we, Americans, believe your Putin, Medvedev, and Lavrov? The same arguments can be made from this side of the "pond". Don't you folks remember Castro and Chavez?

William December 18, 2009, 23:55 quote

The words don't say anything new, in so far as I know, so I don't see them as highlighting a new policy. At any rate, as has already been said, an attack on Russia would be in no one's interests. It would obviously be suicidal, so why worry about one? As is the case with the West, presently security threats to Russia do not come in the form of any conventional military force, NATO included.

Will Nato attack Russia…..NO! Will Russia attack Nato….NO! Will the US attack Russia…..NO! Will Russia attack the US….NO! Can Nato attack Russia……..YOU BETTER BELIVE IT! I just hope Russia’s top leadership does not think like the foolish posts on this thread because if they do they might wake up one day with foreign troops marching through and on Red Square.

If NATO wants to build a common missile defense, why did they not accept Russia's offer of using the radar base in Azerbajian? NATO/US say one thing, but once tested, their gestrues turn to cynical lies. Russia is too big of a prize for NATO and the US. Their aim is one, and well-known. Russia should not have any illusions about what these aims are!

they dont wanna attack anybody, US never attacks anybody, it is always their "nation"-al security being threatened and they always respond... I wonder if this "national" shouldnt be translated to global, as their ambitions are global, EU is still nothing but a vassal.

fog is foggy and his facebook account only allows for his fans to comment so any true discourse about nato is a farce - only one way nato. nato had every intention of attacking russia and was salivating like pavlov's dog to do it. what stopped the ravenous beast? it got caught and that is why it has been stopped! certainly there was no self-control on nato's agenda or else we would not be saturated with its du. further the PENTAGON is not going to throw its favorite whore over the cliff for a little momentary bump in the road, with russia just saying to to nato. the fog in our atmosphere manufactured by nato, et al., is not going to disappear just because a new guy can sound more convincing than the other guy who also said what everyone wants to hear: 60 years of peace with nato. PLEASE let us ask all those who have been murdered by nato whether or not peace has prevailed for 60 years, the killing money machine as a benevolent protector FOR?? the west --- look globally for private-public partnerships in soylent green and nato is this most precious sin eater for those, them, they who do not think about what it means to be sane since the fog has become a du smog and there is not one healthy breath or copenhagen would not be selling us nihilism, AND, or ... .... gender bending for those who own not just the US, but indeed the EU/UK/Israel and and and, what is IT? only the shadow would know except we can see the death and destruction for 60 years and clear out the fog in our human heads to call it what it is: nato.
