Officials and regional leaders may find a new effective way of communicating with people if they follow the president’s example and start blogs, observers think.
2. Also I’d just like to comment on this: “If officials manage to turn the Internet into traditional media, one can forget about its effectiveness,” I almost laughed, if these officials manage to do this, tell them to contact the Kremlin, NASA the NSA (and all other interests) and the Pentagon because they have effective control of the internet. “These blogs lack discussions and seldom publish people’s comments, much less a governor’s replies to these comments, the analyst said. As an example of a good regional leader’s blog Zamula cited that of Oleg Chirkunov, governor of Perm Region. Sometimes he posts several comments a day, and some of them are posted at night.” A Blog with no discussion is not a Blog, also the prime ‘effectiveness’ of the idea is the above stated ‘open multi communication’ so the comments from the leader or official is less important (in my opinion) than the discussion and the visibility of the comments to other interested participants. It is a virtual forum, just as anyone can see these comments and further comment (agree or disagree) right now. The worst barrier to this is censorship, although censorship is not a control or solution to the ‘internet’ or ‘even flow’ of information, as the information will find level by bypassing the censored points as ideas move towards the most least censored point for exposure. i.e just another website or blog. 1. Hello I’d like to comment. First off, great article. this subject has been of interest to me for many years, i have developed many different idea's and policies regarding this subject over the years, I'd like to give my opinion regarding the difference of what might be termed a 'one way' form of communication and a 'multi dimensional' form of communication I’d like to do this in the simplest of terms and use an example from the article: I’d like to use as an example the differences of a ‘Traditional letter’ to the President as opposed to the form of a Blog entry. I’d like to follow the process as I’d like to stress and important point of difference: A letter would be considered a ‘One Way’ form of communication as the people involved are the 1. letter writer and 2. the President, apart from the few others that may be of interest to view the letter the information that is held inside the letter has a very limited exposure, this of course was referenced in the article as “administrative barriers”. The important difference of a blog or a ‘multi dimensional’ form of information is that when the idea is expressed (no matter its importance or unimportance) it is instantly able to be accessed by multiple people AND simultaneously, this essentially means that as well as by passing “administrative barriers” the information can be acted upon by multiple sources simultaneously. Thus the information process works much more like the human brain in fact, and it is this Multi Dimensional aspect that is of the most importance. Something that seems meaningless to most people could be the source of inspiration of a policy idea by others. I just wanted to add this very important point, this great initiative by the Russian leadership is truly inspirational and even though in its starting phases will be the foundation of many a great positives in the future.
