The Finnish and the Swedish governments have approved the construction of the Nord Stream natural gas pipeline through their waters in the Baltic Sea.

That's good news. It has to be good to for customers in northen and western Europe and for the Russian suppliers to have more diversity in energy supply routes. Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states have not endeared themselves to anyone with attempts to become middle-men, siphoning off profits from gas transactions between Russia and their western European customers.
