Taking decisions on deploying interceptor missiles in Romania and Bulgaria, the US might break the strategic balance, analysts warn.
“US missiles, on the one hand, should intercept Iranian missiles, and on the other, they should not be able to devalue Russia’s potential of nuclear deterrence,” Yesin told Nezavisimaya Gazeta. “If the USA observes these conditions, which the Russian leadership insists on when it comes to the cooperation in the missile defense sphere, then I do not see any threat to Russia,” he said. “However, if the Americans decide to deploy some other complexes rather than Patriots or Standards, which are not able to threaten Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles (IBM) so far, then Moscow should not agree to this,” Yesin said." In other words, as of yet the nay sayers are jumping to conclusions. If nothing being deployed can threaten Russia's ICBMs then it plainly has no right to complain about this because these deployments are then irrelevant to Russia's deterrent.
USA are teasing the Russian Bear and they will be the next to suffer from it.
In case, you would have forgotten, I remain you that since the beginning of N-PiPO's presidency, I said: that this US administration with all the left-overs from previous ones could not be trusted: concrete actions count; not Bla Bla Bla and deceitful planetary shows. Day after day what I explained and suggested prove itself to be right. The good question is: When will some courageous, notorious decisions' makers will come to help ? Sorry Future Generations, that is all than I can do for you ! Sincerely... Jean-Claude Meslin
Okay...lets cut to the chase here.It saves all the back and forth and speculative talk about points that are just a distraction. Former Energy secretary,Bill Richardson candidly described the former Soviet republics as ALL about americas energy security. He stated.Quote..WE would like to see them reliant on western commercial and political investment in the Caspian, and its very important to us that the pipeline map and the politics come out right..Unquote Is there a sort of a picture developing here to support that statement even if it has been slightly delayed?
Oh goodie - another missle topic! :) There is no way that silly american AMD can threaten the delivery of III or IV generation nuclear warhead - it is just another russian paranoid tantrum. However because Russia concentrated on the defensive AMD and Patriots they oversaw that Poland bought much more dangerous direct offensive balisitic missles - I am really astonished that no russian media wrote about that. While Russians hit tantrums over Patriots when they have RBS-15 rolled around Kaliningrad and future versions of those missles will have Moscow in their range.
Poland needs to wake up to reality, Russia doesn't worry about their military, they have absolutely zero capability compared to Russia. They just like to puff up their chest and get involved in any conflict as a vocal bystander or small scale presence, supported by a big boy. When they are left on their own and the chips are down, their military is exposed for what it is, basically guys in uniform playing soldiers, not very well at the best of time. That is why Poland needs effective US soldiers and assets on their soil. Because without them Poland has nothing. The proof is in their asking the USA to send support. But now getting to the real topic. It is time for Russia to act firmly, it is time to apply sanctions to the countries that are staging offensive systems aimed at us. Whilst building better and better relationships with countries that want a good relationship like old Europe, Ukraine... We should be straightforward and not get into a situation where we are subsidizing financially offensive systems against us. To be practical we should get immediate clarity who is going to host what. Following that we should start to sanction countries who will take part, and also ask other countries to sanction them as well. We can hardly have a situation where we are contemplating sanctions against Iran for others security, but aren't actively coupling that effort to our security with respect to these offensive systems. Those sanctions could be layered and begin ASAP with the termination of tourism to the areas, including charter flights. Then it can be increased to financial and business interests in a phased approach, with compensation to relocate to friendly countries. We need to realize there is Europe and US in Europe. We need to deal with Europe and turn our back on US in Europe. We cannot be supporting financially our own demise. The US must support the offensive systems they want to deploy against us, not us!
Count Cash is right, Countries must assume the decisions made by their political leaders and the one who is offended has the duty to react accordingly. If Poles like so well their US missiles and soldiers, then they should go buy their oil and gas in America. The average Polish citizen is a normal unsophisticated person who like most of us, worry about his daily living and has tremendous difficulties. This is not the case for the decisions-makers. America's hegemony is just a matter of power and money; the people are irrelevant. So far, this strategy has succeeded on all continents; Why change it! The last US project is isolating Russia and pressure it until she beg for joining the great Pax-America World. Russian leaders may have to wake-up and stop the wishful-thinking. Sorry Future Generations...Sincerely...Jean-Claude Meslin
@Cash You`re right - there are millions of Poles that want to come to the russian paradise - we should hang tourism right now :). You should also stop selling us Your gas and oil - because You are selling it so cheaply that we dont see the reason to buy from anyone else or mine our own :). Russia should ask Germany to put sanctions on Poland ASAP :). You talk about reality but here it is - Russia is not a key player anymore. Your empire failed and left with leftovers like Belarus and Moldova - get over with it. You can order those two what to do and what You want - everyone else just doesnt care. Even small Baltics didnt care about Mother Russia`s opinion when they entered NATO and EU, they have now better living standards than Russia and that`s a fact. Take care better of Your economy, and hid Your threats You can`t realize for better times.
I think the thing that really hurts the east european failures the most, is that Russia is one of the key players in the world, and is set to become more so. We have the resources of oil, gas, food and water. Indeed we are the mass with inherent value to form around. Russia has downsized and ejected its non profitable parts, that had no inherent worth. Now Russia is back to its core business, to grow stronger and stronger. This is what really hurts the east Europeans. They sit as marginal candidates, the poor ones of Europe, they sit around the old Europe - the Germans, the French, the Italians, the Spanish ...., who never accept the east eurpean rejects, that bring little to europe and take alot. No the reality is that old Europe, knows the value of forming around Russia, and is doing it, look at the train deals, the ship deals, the space deals, the energy deals.... Old Europe knows it needs customers for its technology and access to things it doesn't have, like hydrocarbons and reliable space boosters. It knows that Russia is a key player. That is why it ignores the incessant moaning and whinging of the east european scrounger economies, the ones who want to fight, and dont want to work. Old Europe knows the way the world needs to work, and is certainly not going to let a bunch of beligerent east europeans stop them achieving and maintaing a better lifestyle. Old europe lives Go Russia, the east europeans live Stalin, so are over 50 years behind. The blunt reality is that the world is moving on, the east europeans will just be left with their chips on their shoulders, standing in fields with their missiles, showing the same lack of military knowledge and politics that they have always had. Russia will provide resources and products to diverse countries and economies. The smart countries are making sure they have a relationship that works with us. The dumb ones are fighting, while behind them smart ones ae reaching past them.
Count Cash. Your analyse is good but you forgot one major factor. Back, in 1970, when living in Seattle, I rode that comment from a notorious New-York Time political journalist: Europe will be Americanised or will never be. Consequently, the USA have kept a huge military presence all over the continent; they install ABM missiles in many countries and have corrupted so many decisions' makers (not only in former East-bloc countries but most of all, in Brussels). Unless, Europeans assume their sovereignty and have all that American interference removed, Russia will still have a long time to worry...Sorry Future European and Russian Generations ! Sincerely. Jean-Claude Meslin

Great job NATO! europe is looking safer and safer as each week goes by. All these missiles, looks to be perfect to maintain the peace (sarcasm). I am sure the EU tax payer is well impressed with the increasing tensions, with counter missiles bound to be deployed by Russia. Hey some people say that NATO isn't really interested in security in Europe, just making a war with Russia. When I look at the instability coming into Europe, as a result of these NATO and US actions, then I would have to agree, wouldn't you!
