well, the only possible mending of relations is by getting Ukraine and Belarus back under Russia. This would benefit the stability in Central Europe as well. But before that happens, politicians who love their power would have to be removed. That would happen when funding from washington would stop (Ukr), then the government should set send there reliable people to fight mafia in Ukr., which is so deeply rooted there- it has quite significant say even in official Ukr. statemeents. Currently in Ukraine even if some elections take part- people have to decide who is lesser evil, because politicians may promise, but their deeds once in power may be contradictory. I once met a son of a wealthy Ukrainian, he was trying to bribe me because Ukraine is lawless, that means I can be bought as well. I told him otherwise and to backoff. Funny thing is that I can speak understandably Russian, but it seemed too hard for that corrupt, so he preferred english...he was from western Ukraine I think. The wealthy in Ukraine are no good people. Especially because they are opportunists who for themselves make others poor.

Yuschenko has so little support in Ukraine and has done nothing to improve the economy. His leadership has spent their time encouraging division amongst the population. The decent thing for him to do would be to resign now and let others start sorting out the mess. The Russian leadership are wise to keep him at arm's length.
