With the situation in Afghanistan showing no sign of improvement, NATO and the US are increasingly seeking the help of Russia. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksey Borodavkin spoke with RT on the issue.
No russian military operations in Afghanistan ? I read that every year in Russia are killed 28000 young persons by heroin. Is that right? If this is so, than we must urgently redefine what war is. If the druglords in Afghanistan are able to destroy the youth of Russia without firing a single bullet on russian soil, than Russia has to adress these persons through measures which can be called "military", chemical or nationbuilding or whatever. But this needs to happen. Training Police? Maybe one of more to find. My idea: Invest enough money into the genetic engineering of new biological weapons capable to massively destroy all the basic plants like "Poppy" required to produce Heroin. Spreadng the Poppy desease instead of heavy bombs may be an additional option and cause less colateral damage. Also Russia needs to check all trucks returning from Afghanistan for drugs, even NATO in transit. About Iran: These "Iranien Friends" may loose their pants, so everybody will be looking for the next team in Iran. They will be history. About North Korea: Why not to leave that museum nation to the custody of the Chinese? May they parade their nukes on their avenues. Kurill Islands: In fact there is no reason to give them to the japanese. If the Japanese offer something to Russia in exchange, worth the trade, than this will be different. But did they offer something like that?
Mr Peucelle should know than NATO vehicles and even her airplanes are used to carry drugs on russian borders. That US-NATO consorsium has over 100000 soldiers there plus peraphs as many mercenaries. Pavot fields grows in everybody view and apparently nobody know how to use a flame-thrower. Afghanis war-lords control the whole business and americans do not want them to be ennemis. Peraphs do you have another explanation, but according to the ONU 90% of all the heroïn consumed in the World still come from Afghanistan. From her side of the border, Russia must do all she can to stop the drugs. But has no business helping NATO in any way. If she does, it will be an insult and a treason for the thousands soviets (russians) killed in that country by US-NATO armaments and mercenaries (For instance: Al-Quaeda). As I did in other topics, the real reason why the US-NATO consorsium refuse to see the light and leave should be clearly explained. This has nothing to do with Democratisation of those countries...Sorry Future Generations. Sincerely. Jean-Claude Meslin
I agree with Nicolas,Russia must stop this flow of heroin into its territory,we simply cannot allow the well being of Russian youth to be so tragically destroyed! It boils my blood that the Taliban are getting away with this evil. What to do about it? burn all the poppy fields, and again burn the poppy fields, then maybe without the money they get from this source the Taliban will crumple! So no military intervention for Russia but select forces to destroy this growing of heroin, surely its easier to do this then chase elusive Taliban around the mountains, deprive them of their income...SAVE THE RUSSIAN YOUTH..PLEASE!!!
I agree with Russia not getting involved with Afghanistan. Instead of spending on wars, use the money to protect your borders against illicit drug smuggling. Besides, look at America the biggest users of drugs, and in some states its legal. China has the best idea. Protect yourself, forget everyone else.
Drugs flowing to Russia from Afghanistan were virtually none existent until U.S. invaded that country! Now Afghanistan supplies over 90% of world heroin! True reason why war in Afghanistan will not end any time soon! And i want to say SHAME ON YOU to high American government officials (not the people) for killing of so many of my countryman each day from your backed heroin trade! But as we all know, what goes around comes around. Nothing will be without a consequence!
NATO/U.S attempt to blackmail Russia has failed. As Russia’s Deputy for Foreign Ministry so succinctly outlined, Afghanistan does not need militarisation, bombing, drones, and maiming of society; Afghanistan needs development, clean water, schools, housing, technical colleges and human security. Russia cannot bring meaningful development to Afghanistan by joining the empire building NATO militarisation of Afghanistan. NEVER, in this case, was meant to stress that Russia has different model of human security. NATO and the U.S have used militarisation and regime change as way of asserting domination. This policy has failed wherever it has been tried. As for Russia’s problem with drug trade and trafficking coming from Afghanistan to Russia, the problem has gotten lot worse since the U.S got into Afghanistan! So there is point in trying to blackmail Russia to join this failed coalition.
The reason Russian Leaders decided, not to get involved in the Afghanistan war,is simple because they know well, the reasons why NATO troops choosed to be there, instead of UN.The Russian Leadership also know, the so called 9/11 incident, give the americans and the ZIONNATO Alliance a good pretext,to wage wars of aggression,to reach their goals,on the name of fighting TERROR.It is good that Russia is choosing to stay away from NATO war on TERROR, and keep instead watching their every move, as they continue seeking to destabilize, and divide to conquer, like they have been doing for many years. By waging wars of aggression,NATO Alliance has proven to the People of the World their true intentions, and sooner or later, even their own people will find out the real reasons, these war are being waged.
The Soviet Union {Russia} has already had it's go in Afghanistan and tucked it's deurrier and went home. Why would Russia risk another defeat in Afghanistan? If America rounds up or destroyes the terrorists in Afghanistan there will be no need for Russia to risk another defeat there.
To Sarah, Happy new year to you and all RT fans! Russia's resolute stand against military involvement in Afghanistan is praise worthy. The overtures from the Western War mongers for cooperation with Russia must always be seen for what it is , a cynical trap to lure Russia into its Lare and finish it off. The Great Russian patriots must continue to be vigilant and stave off every intrigue in what ever form it is disguised. Such problems as rising drug addiction by Russian Youth, the rise of racist and fascict tendency among Russian youth, and terrorism in the caucassus are clearly the impact of the sinister hands of the West in the continuing silent war against the land of Lenin. To have resurrected such a lackey like Sakaasvilli and instigated him to attack Russians proves this. Is it not silent complicity with the fascists that the west is amply demostrating over events in Estonia, the Ukraine and Poland, where logic is being turned upside down by equating Russian War veterans with Nazi invaders? Take care of Russia please, and keep up the heroic traditions bequethed by the Zhukovs, Rokosovsky, Vasilevsky , Konev......etc!

I am very pleased to read that Russia is taking a firm stand on Afghanistan. This clarity is good for Russia so that the world knows where Russia stands on key issues of global importance.
