According to preliminary results, all four political parties represented in Russia’s State Duma managed to win seats in regional parliaments as a result of Sunday’s local polls.

That´s twice more than in the U.S. Congress...well, a couple of times there has been one member of the U.S. Congress who was neither Republican nor Democrat.

"Officials say voter turnout was about 43 percent." This just shows again how the Russian people's are disillusioned and how they know that their vote doesn't count. They know that when you go voting for any other party than United Russia, then most likely some clerc will change it to a vote FOR United Russia. When Medvedev talks about liberalisation and modernisation of the political system, he means continuing to take away people's rights and further strenghtening the power base of a one party state... Yes Russia needs stability and security, but please Mr. Putin, don't overdo it... or it will end terribly for the Russian peoples...
