Russia will seek direct opportunities to sell weapons to NATO member states, according to Russia's envoy to the alliance, Dmitry Rogozin.
He also said Moscow is considering sending weapons to Afghanistan to assist its present government.
In return, the Alliance might lift all barriers for free military trade between Moscow and NATO member states.
Last December, the alliance's secretary general asked Russia to supply Kabul with military helicopters.
May Day gradually loses political flavorSpring and Labor Day has been celebrated with marches and rallies across Russia for and against the government. However, the majority of people just wanted to rest up. |

Sukhois in US service... maybe light propeller driven trainers, but not fighter aircraft I would suppose. In NATO however Ukrainian An-124s would be of interest no doubt and a few Il-476s make the C-17 look very over priced in comparison. The Mi-26 will probably get the nod as well I would think as there is no western equivelent that comes even close except the C-130. Personally I think any market sales to NATO will happen anyway, so Russia should not waste this opportunity. They should demand poppy fields in Afghanistan get dealt to properly (ie destroyed when found) before they start SELLING weapons to Afghanistan. If NATO threatens to leave immediately then the Taleban will certainly take over, but they will erradicate poppy production too, like they did before NATO went in there. The Taleban in power in Afghanistan is very bad news for Afghanistan, but currently better news for Russia than NATO has been so far. Right now given the choice between democracy in Afghanistan and drugs flooding over the border and NATO, or strict Islamic rule in Afghanistan, no drugs being produced there and the Taleban in control, for Russia it would be better to have the Taleban.

US Is not the only NATO member. There are plenty of smaller ones that were once on the "other side" or non-aligned. Those are all familiar with russian tech. For example we still have Kalashnikov klones used for reserve forces. I would also like to see some russian aircraft back in the sky. especially some sturdy helicopter that can be used for mountain rescue missions. I mean we cooperate on so many levels, so why not in military tech as well. Here Russian technology is considered to be very crude, yet also very effective. So why not work on that...
