Heads of the Russian and US defense ministries have signed two important agreements in Washington, resuming cooperation suspended in 2008.
Robert Gates believes in the values of GWB when it comes to dealing with Russia. However, the Russians, it seems, have accepted their new role. Thus, this picture cannot represent a new Russia-US cooperation. What is clear to those who follow the Russian media is that often the Russians cry fouly when the U.S and NATO ignore Russia’s global role. We have also noted that the slightest gesture of goodwil from the U.S to Russia is often spinned the Russian media as a major break through until the U.S declares a new country in Eastern Europe to host U.S missile radars and missile batteries. The Russians begin crying foul and the cycle begins again.
This important public lecture may explain this picture. http://vodpod.com/watch/4383682-john-mearsheimer-chinas-challenge-to-us-power
With Russia and the US coming closer; India and the US coming closer, the scenario expressed by John Mearsheimer, where Russia, Japan, Australia, India, possibly Indonesia, and the US would join to stem the China Hegemony in the Asian region seems to be coming true. But, we will have to wait and see if this is still true in 10-20 years, when China's power is greater than today.

Those two states are not alike at all but in millitary(only those two) they each have a full house...They dont need each other but you never know how the future will look like. In any case, what is well known that almost nothing in this world can be setled without their part and what is the most important-world future depent sole(at present time and I believe in future to) on theirs will....Any talks ("rhythm of consultations") in defence sphere is more then welcome by me...but what will happend we will see. Anyway, this regular talks will build trust, understanding and I honesly hope cut risk of something unwanted...As for Russia-Georgia war is all clear...Georgia started war and Russia was forced to respond(after hourses in UN waiting for the rest to act lawfuly-which did not happend) with full force...It is good that nobody try to play a "hero" in this dangerous situation....Alike situation can arise again and if Russia and US can somehow respect and listen each other, than all of us in the rest of the world will be much, much safer...At least I will hope so!
