Ballot sheets

With three weeks to go, preparations for Russia’s parliamentary election in December are stepping up a gear on Sunday, with more than 100 million ballot sheets being printed.

Eleven parties are included on the voting papers, which will also include the names of the candidates at the top of each party’s electoral list.

The papers are protected from fraud by special stamps.

Printing costs are expected to be half that of the 2003 ballot sheets because they are produced locally in each region.
