When speaking before the military, the head of any state tries to raise the army’s morale, because such are “the rules of the game,” he told the daily. And thinking of a military revenge against Russia is “simply illogical,” he stressed. =================== Sane people do not eat ties and they definitely do not talk the way tie eater spoke, he sounded more like a gang leader than President of a country. Someone should remind him he doesn't posses the gang that Bush, Bibi, Cameron or Obama do.

Does anyone really take this paranoid tie eater seriously any more? He is using fear to hold onto power that's all. If the Russians really wanted to do a regime change in Georgia, no one could have stopped them in 2008.After all they were already at the gates of Tbilisi with little or no opposition. Its not as if the Russians really care what the reaction from US and NATO or the EU was.

Saakashvili will loss the next Elections as a consequence of his complete economic and political failure, so he is using the "nationalist" agenda trying to promote Fear among the Georgian people...but what Georgians want is a Government which takes care of their dailyh problems, their health care, their roads, their trade...And Saakashvilli precisely is not signing Free Trade Agreements and Peace Treaties with the Russian Federation but all the opposite. Georgians want Business and Peace with Russia so their economy can prosper.

Is Mikhail Saakashvili a dictator? Perhaps. But so too are Russia's puppets in the Americas, namely Hugo Chavez and Raul Castro, whom Russia supplies arms to. As long as Russia exploits Latin America's grievances against the US, then it is only fair that the US exploit Georgia's grievances against Russia.

With the best will in the world it is impossible to take Saakashvili seriously. I'm sure he sees himself as a Georgian Napoleon but I remember the tie eating. And the film of him running down the road when a Russian jet was reported to be near. No he is a man of various delusions none of them very grand. Of course the scorched earth response to invaders gained heroic status when the Russians employed it after the Nazi invasion. And before that during the invasion led by the first Napoleon. Given the performance of the majority of the Georgian army in their brief conflict with the Russian army there is no reason to suppose they would hang around long enough to start a single fire. No Saakashvili's speech is purely for domestic consumption. Everyone outside Georgia knows the score. If Saakashvili leaves the newly independent territories alone and doesn't launch any military provocations then he will be left alone for the Georgians to deal with. But If he launches another war the Russian leadership can do what they like with him and his regime. And no one in the West will even suggest anything other than he brought it on himself.

Dustin, You may be partially right but the huge difference is Russia does not start Wars with America through Venezuela and Cuba but America started the War with Russia through Georgia and because of this fact Shaakashvili's demonic regime and his entourage financed by George Soros must be brought down befor it is too late for the humanity. Don't forget, this demon started WW3 in 2008 and America financed it.

Dustin, you have the wrong end of the stick. Leftist revival in S.America is caused by their publics total rejection of the predatory policies of the neoliberal consensus, so enthusiastically promoted by Washington. Your view that Cuba and Venezuela are "puppets" of Russia is pure cold war rhetoric. Unlike Georgia, these nations have real grievances against the US, and are justiified in their stances. They have been profoundly affected by the new-age version of the Monroe doctrine, where a large dominant power seeks hegemony over its neighbours. Georgians have adopted the same policies (and have for centuries) but in their case the Ossetian and Abkhaz minorities have resisted their efforts thus far.

Dustin & Efrim, Russia supplies arms to Venezuela & Cuba but only for defensive purposes to defend themselves from agressive Yanks, but America (George Soros) is arming Georgis for offensive purposes as a pariah culprit in the region. That is the difference between American and Russian poltics.

Saakasvili cannot give lectures on national security. We all saw the film in which he was running for cover when the Russian jet fighters were hovering over the city. There is no commander in chief any where in the world who would behave like that and then later talks about national defense. The next time he angers Russia, he going to be hanged on the balls; no doubt about that.

Saakashvili may be an idiot but he is still a loyal puppet of the USA, and we re-armed him after the 2008 war. There are still some people in the USA government who do take him seriously, believing all the hot air from his presidential palace. Don't forget that the news in the USA during the 2008 war was mostly press releases from Saakashvili, and most people here who remember anything about the war assume Russia tried to take over Georgia, because that message was in the newspapers and on TV. Saakashvili wasn't speaking just to his troops but to people in the USA government, who still pay his bills. He is trying to keep the money coming his way.

Mr.President, You must attack soon, or the Americans will arm this madman and cause more Russian deaths. It is YOUR DUTY as president to protect all Russians from imminent danger. I know that invading Georgia is a political risk, but you must do it now and stabillize the Russian homeland from any risk from attack from the West. We do not want any NATO or American forces on Russian borders EVER.

Gazza's response is correct. What was Cuba before Castro? A Mafia and CIA play ground for money laundering and other various crimes. Chile had its government overthrown and a dictatorship by Pinachet put in place. Guatamala. Even Venezuala in 2002 had a coupe backed by Washington, The National Endowment for Democracy (a common face in global problems), and the CIA. They supported military leaders that kidnapped Chavez and desolved his government. Not suprisingly, every minister and government official that replaced received the National Endowment for Democracy funds. White House rubber stamped the deal, approving of the coupe at the White House conference. Then the people said NO to America and protested in the streets until they got Chavez back. That's only the tip of the iceburg with S. America and US hegemic role in the region. They've raped murdered and killed. The people in Chile were placed in a stadium used as a concentration camp. Russia did nothing to undermine America's influence in S. America. The US has done everything on their own to cause this movement.

@Dustin Hugo Chavez was not installed or had anything to do with Russia and is not a dictator. The US tried to overthrow his government with a military junta aligned with the ruling Oligarchy As far as Cuba goes that was during the Cold War and the US has been targeting that country with terrorism and an illegal embargo for decades because it overthrow an CIA mafia puppet state used to traffic drugs. And these states are not sponsoring and training terrorists and help run organised crime in the US unlike Georgia is doing to Russia in the North Caucasus. @efrim More than that he worked for a Soros law firm in the US and managed a USAID (CIA) subcontractor NGO the Liberty Institute.

@johnx, efrim, gazza, & stan You must be insane. Chavez is funding and protecting FARC and the ELN. He has also been proven by the Spanish government to provide weapons and money to ETA. As for Cuba, anybody who does not agree with the party is thrown in prison camps and never seen or heard from again. (I wonder what country they got the idea from?). Cuba has a history of supporting terrorism. The funded and supplied Che Guevarra in his terrorist rampages in the Zaire and Bolivia. Thank God we killed him. Today the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Bolivia are free and democratic. And one day, I hope Georgia will recover from the 300 years of Russian interference...yes 300 years...that has complete destroyed the country.

@dustin .. you must be joking or poorly informed .. 300 years of russian interderence ... destroyed ???... if it wasn't for russia there wouldn't be a georgia today .. it would be another turkish state or whatever ... but on the other hand i might have been for the best ... i mean .. no georgia no stalin ... no stalinism ..

@Dustin Chavez does not support FARC or ELN and the source which was proof is as phoney as every other pretext for foreign intervention. http://original.antiwar.com/justin/2008/03/14/pure-fantasy-colombias-laptop-revelations/ It is the US that does through control of the Columbian drug through airports In Venice, Florida. Dennis Hopsicker has done excellent reporting on the issue. http://www.madcowprod.com/archive.html Georgia willingly joined the Russian empire as a protectorate against the Ottomans who without Russian protection would have been Muslim after Abkhazia joined Russia. If I remember the top to people in the USSR were the Georgians Beria head of the NKVD and Stalin and far from being “destroyed” Georgia gained territory and high represented in the Soviet government during and after Stalin’s rule. In fact Russia lost territory under Kruschev rule. You do know that the Russian “revolution” really a coup was planned, financed and organised in Europe and the US most of the non-Russian government former exiles from New York 300 of the just over 330 members of the first government that only had 16 ethnic Russians. Congo is a mess with a civil war in the 90’s that killed about 3 million people and in Bolivia the US is supporting terrorism and separatism in the richer areas.
