Mayoral election results have been annulled in the city of Derbent, in Russia’s Dagestan, the first such case in the North Caucasus and the first time a vote’s outcome has been cancelled not in favor of the ruling party.

I think this is good news for future elections. If the fraudsters are under close scrutiny, and they realize that the Federal government may overturn a crooked election, they might be a little more discreet next time. It is hard to prevent all fraud, but this is a start to minimizing it as much as possible.
