More "deep and painfull reforms", as if Serbia has not been deeply and painfully economically destroyed throught the experimentation of liberal capitalism fools. Now foreign banks have been saved, thanks to IMF that will load the loan on the backs of future generations. So now, "deep and painful" will be the cuts needed to pay off the loans. What a hoax the whole thing is. Now, people are always hopefull. They have been waiting for nearly ten years for "Europe" to show in practice how their lecturing works. Now, they will wait perhaps another 10-20 years, until the exaustion sets in. In the meantime, the visa program is meant to benefit only Europe. Its dwindling demographics will be boosted by Balkan immigrants, well educated and easily integrated into society. Not much will remain in Serbia, to think about the future. Greece, being one of the more prosperous European countries has come to what it is today! EU membership actually harmed them. Tadic is happy for himself as well, and his army of officials. They all may one day get a good paying job in the ever-expanding EU bireaucracy.

A well said Bianca! As a Serb, I would rather see Serbia integrated into Russian Federation (like Kaliningrad oblast), than to be a part of EU. Separated like this it is very difficult for Serbia to keep living since we are not allowed to export our goods in EU as EU import taxes are very high for non-members. Our leadership probably arrived at the conclusion this is just a move to enable surviving. For Russia, adopting Serbia into RF would be a move connected with many challenges: with no see route, no connection by land, and no direct connection by air. I presume both sides, Rus and Serb, concluded this is the best for the two: Russia to have his closest ally in EU and Serbia to resolve its perpetuate economic difficulties. Besides, it seems there is a solid bloc in EU oriented towards having close ties with Russia (Germany, for example). Britain is probably the main opponent for Russia becoming strongly connected with EU, as it can only further marginalize GB. As for Poland, no one of heavy players in EU does not really care about what is the Poland's opinion.

As Russia is coming closer, EU is taking a stronger grip on Serbia. If Russia hadn't started investing in Serbia, our EU path would still have been blocked. Nothing is different compared to last year in terms of Hague tribunal cooperation, but Holland changed it's mind. Schengen visas got canceled less than 6 months after Russia did the same. Otherwise, visas would stay for sure. The problem is that EU doesn't want Serbia as it is. It wants to transform Serbia into a mass of "citizens" with no smell or taste. Serbs are not entitled to have their own history, religion, culture, economy, moral, army, pride and of course - it's sacred land Kosovo and Metohija. On the other hand, we are witnessing breaking every opposition to "European values" or to be more precise - to next year's parade of homosexuals in Belgrade. Media has never been so single-minded. In Milosevic era there were few very strong opposition media and today there are none, although Serbia is "democratic" for more than 9 years. EU is praised as a savior - you cannot hear any anti EU comment or a real discussion on if it is in our interest to join the EU, although there are almost 40% of people that are not for entering the EU (research done by pro-EU media). 40% of people (or more) are constantly being silenced. Just as they never asked the people if they want to be in the EU or to witness a parade of homosexuals in Belgrade, they plan not to ask the people if they want to be a part NATO. EU is making a real mess in Serbia. If it doesn't stop, something really bad will happen. If not before, wait for the parade of homosexuals next summer.

It may be interesting to have one of Russia most sincere friend in the E-U. It will compensate the negative american influence which concretise several US prostitute states' leaders. It may have a positive attitude on the future and balance this 1970's remark made by a notorious journalist: ... Think Positve !!! Sincerely...Jean-Claude Mesln

Russia and Serbia have benefits of Serbian membership in EU, and even so entering NATO. We will be transit between Russia and the West (Russian spies:). If you ask me, if I would have to chose between Russia and EU - Russia definitely. This days, more than 50% of population in Serbia are pro Russians.

Tadic is without a doubt a complete western tool as was Yeltsin, only competent and sober. His corrupt predecessor, Zoran Djindic was killed for his part in selling out the Serbs so obviously the deep rage against the West is just beneath the surface. The Serbs will always love all things Russian but the fact remains that when the Serbs needed the Russians the most, the Russians did not help them. When NATO dismantled Bosnia & Kosovo with air strikes, the latest cold war technology, uranium munitions, neofacist mercenaries from the west and worst of all...bloodthirsty muhajedeen from the middle east, Russia did absolutely nothing. A few brave Russian volunteers fought for the Serbian cause but the Russian government completely sold out the Serbs as Brit P.M. Chamberlain did the Czechs to the Nazis. Many Serbs were heart-broken when they realized they had been completely sacrificed and today the fruit of that desolation has been born. Hopefully, the Serbs will remain vigilant to the abuse of the west and not sink to the level of a pathetic euro-colony (like Bosnia). Meanwhile, inspite of Russia's best intentions, everybody knows the Russians will neither defend nor help the Serbs in the event of a western attack.

Daniel Kolak Philosophy Professor at WPUNJ in Wayne NJ Promoted Croatian Genocide (Proof) http://www.wpunj.edu/cohss/philosophy/FACULTY/kolak.jpg I took my required course in Philosophy by Professor Daniel Kolak. I used to attend his weekly philosophy meetings that lasted until the wee hours of the morning. They were held where the old language lab used to be on the WPUNJ College campus in Wayne NJ. Throughout the meeting the students that attended were NEO NAZI Skinheads. They and Professor Kolak and Croatian language magazines and right in front of me spoke openly about promoting genocide against certain populations and especially against Jews and Serbs in the former Yugoslavia (I was very scared). I have vague memories of Mr Kolak saying he was from Croatia but I cannot 100% be certain. I thought he told me he was from there because I remember asking because I was shocked at the topic of Dan Kolak promoting anti Jewish behavior with students of his that lived down the street from me in Bloomingdale, NJ at that time that were minors. The kids told me they were only 17 years old (Freshman). Dan Kolak works on making movies with Speilberg (the Jewish Movie man) I AM SHOCKED BUT THIS IS ALL TRUE. I will take a polygraph test to prove this truth..

I think EU needs to reevaluate the membership process. It would be wise to consider what a country has to offer, and weigh it against what a country will certainly take. This line of thought was not carried and a mistake was made with some current EU members (which shall not be mentioned) and it seems to me that these current actions essentially blackballing Serbia are chasing away one of the few non-EU nations who can contribute more to the union than they will request from it.
