File picture of chief-commander of the Kosovo Protection Force (KPC) Agim Ceku (R) gesturing as he chats with the commander of the Task Force Falcon, US General William David (out of camera range), on the exercise field of the local Kosovar troops near Brasaljce 27 July 2001

Authorities act under pressure of larger powers overseeing the independence of Kosovo and end up not pursuing any course of action, says Bojan Brkic, reporter and political analyst from Belgrade.

This is far bigger than whether or not Ceku is extradited. The breakaway of Kosovo came about well after all manner of Albanians fled the "new" Albania and were given "protection" and military support by reactionary forces within Nato. Led by the nose by Britain and the USA that had given refuge to others in the old oligarchy under the guise of restoring [sic] "western democracy" the Communist State of Albania was destroyed. Since then Yugoslavia has suffered the same fate - being broken up into a gaggle of weakened States dependent on Nato and Modern "reformed" Capitalism for "maintenance of the peace" and survival of the once proud working class and its kith and kin in the hinterlands. Has Kosovo become a [sic] "New Israel"?? How should the progressives of this World of ours view this Saga?? Perhaps by realising the reality seen when you "step out of the woods" and view the full panorama!!Where is the once vociferous Socialist International - where is the Comintern - today?? Bogged down by Economism - no doubt!! Now that we've taken the inevitable "Step Backwards" - Is it not timely - with Capitalism in the most profound economic and political crisis in more than 80 years - to "Take Two Steps Forward" anew?? "What's To Be Done"?? Where to Begin" I hear everywhere. Maybe that's just where!! ///snowyone.

This is the Posada Carilles of the Balkans, a terrorist who gets protection from the west instead of prosecution as it should be. The "war against terror" is a selective war, pro-US terrorists get the protection of practically all institutions, while the other so called terrorists are being bombed on a daily base. Ceku should already have been in court, not a Serbian one but the Int. court in The Hague, but alas this court only serves the interests of 1 particular power instead of bringing justice to EVERYONE!!

Well, what we are seeing right now is the emeregence of a new world order, they are slowly taking over small nations with military and economic power. The smaller countries in the former warsaw/soviet pact are now more or less inslaved in debt by the new masters that destroyed the balkans. The working class is getting poorer, while the rich getting richer. What we see now in the world is a super power Nato/Eu/Usa trying to establish total control of the world. They have now taken care of the smaller nations in europe, the only one in their way is russia and china. The future is looking kind of scary, will usa/nato accept going bankrupt or will they take the world with them in a full scale war, this is of course a very pessimist thought of me, but a true one. The fight for resources in central asia is probably the next big battlefield between east and west. The split of balkan was just the beginning of what is to come. I know this thread is about kosovo, but kosovo is important in regards of pipe lines from central asia, so is makedonia, bulgaria and albania. I agree 100% with what you wrote snowyone, where to begin is hard to say, i say inform the people, thats the only way we can make a change.

Kosovo should be allowed to pursue its free and independent path and should not be persecuted by Serbia. That Yugoslavia exists no more is a shame - and it was foolish for the country not to restore its monarchy after the dictator Tito died. Without a united Yugoslavia under its king, there is now a collection of independent states that have little means of self-defense and need to seek the protection of big powers. The big powers will only help if it's in their interest and if they can manipulate things to their advantage.

@Steven Grumman Watch the US documentary Yugoslavia the Avoidable war on Google video on how western powers especially Germany and the US helped establish independent states of Croatia and Bosnia which the assistance and compliance of most of the Western mass media on staged events to provoke a response from Yugoslav army or Serb forces including providing massive arm shipments while giving the official pretext of negotiating peace agreement between the different factions. Like letting Iran and other Muslim states provide arms and training to Muslim forces in Bosnia and training Croat and Muslim forces through a private US military contractor MPRI (who were also training Georgian forces before Georgia’s assault on South Ossetia) to launch an assault on the ethnic Serb conclave of Krajina in Croatia in 95 killing 10,000 and ethnically cleansing 200,000 the entire Serb population which Cheku was a part of. KOSOVO is SERBIA and the seat of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Kosovo is not even a word in Albanian. Kosovo was stolen from Serbia by the USA so that they could have YET ANOTHER place to interfere with the lives of innocent people. And so that could build another military base to aggrevate Russia and cause MORE problems in the world. I know several Serbian families from the Krajina in Croatia whose older family members were MURDERED by "soldiers" commanded by that butcher Ceku. Ceku was and is a PAID AMERICAN AGENT of destruction. He will not stand trial for his war crimes because the USA protects its islamic agents of destruction. There is a murderous and villanious Chetchyan agent living in Washington, DC right now under US protection.
