NASA astronaut Michael Reed Barratt thanks all RT readers who sent their best wishes for his 50th birthday. Barratt celebrated the great day high above Earth onboard the International Space Station.

He said from up there, there are no borders seen between nations, just like there are no borders between segments of the ISS, and that all crew members wished for the planet to be as they saw it – peaceful and united.

Barratt said that the congratulation sent by Mahmoud Hassan, which was submitted through our Arabic sister channel Rusia Al-Yaum, was the best. Our colleagues will send him a mission patch from the uniforms.

As for the English-speaking folk, Barratt picked his fellow countryman Frank Porco from New Jersey for his rhymed short message. A group photo of the crew complete with signatures has been awarded to him.
