Terrorist groups are being trained in Georgia to launch attacks in Russia’s North Caucasian and southern regions, Russia's Deputy Interior Minister Arkady Yedelev said.
This has to be confronted head on. We cannot get ourselves into a position where we are operating with one hand tied behind our back in the fight against western backed terrorism. We need however, unlike the west, act in a transparent, legal manner. We need gather evidence, not fiction, and present it to the UN. Then when the case is clear and strong, we need take strong military action, regardless of any dissent from anyone. We need, based on a clear case, cause the cesation of terrorist training in Georgia. This can be with or without the cooperation of Georgia itself, because terrorism in the Caucuses is an act threatening our national security. One would hope that Georgia would want to act to thwart terrorism, but if it doesn't, then we should be clear in that we will accomplish the job for them.
Old news......... This is written about even in the US how they infiltrated these regions with Islamic Extremism.
I wonder how many of you will actually believe this nonsense. You forgot to mention that Georgians are killing, skinning, boiling and eating babies at night, before they go to bed. Russian propaganda machine hit the rock bottom. Please stay there.
With Saakashvili still in control of Georgia, its very believable. That man is unbalance and all his actions had show he is capable of anything. The USA should bring their puppet under control or the Russians will again do it for them.
There are a couple of issues raised here. 1. Russia did not have to get involved in Georgia's internal affairs. No other country has physically got involved to prevent Russia from surpresses its own rebel groups. I do not know if this would be a right or wrong thing to do. I would suggest that very few people, if anyone, has enough knowledge to make a judgement. 2. Perhaps it is quite conceivable that Russia is to blame for the sudden rise in attacts in its northern territory. Russia has shown the seperatists that with force you can create an independent state, similar to the territories separated from Georgia. Perhaps the true price of the war between Russia and Georgia is still to be counted by Russia. The sad truth is that the cost will be paid in blood and lost hopes, dreams and aspirations.
What Count Cash write is absolutly correct. Proofs of all terrorism's involvements by foreigners of whatever nation must be clarely documented and put in evidence for the whole World to know. We can perfectly guess who pay & manipulate Saakashvili (The US-NATO consorsium). For those facts to be accepted and sent to a court of justice, the United-Nations and all worldwide institutions headquarters located in America will have to be moved in really neutral places. Since their creation all those planetary instances have been run, according to America's desirs and her permanent blackmails: (Most of all those institutions decisions' makers have been and still are USA's prostitutes. The few who refused to be manipulated did not last a very long time; or, even ended up dead). We must face the fact that as the example that Humanity desperatly needs, the US-NATO consorsium has been and still is under N-PiPO's leadership, a total faillure. Something else must be found ! Sorry Future Generations ! Best Regards...Jean-Claude Meslin
Maybe Nona would like to tell us why it is impossible for Georgia to be aiding terrorist. As if this has never been done before. We all know that the real roots of 9/11 started in the Afghan/Soviet war, and the CIA was just too happy then to deal with Islamist extremists all for the greater good of fighting communists. So please nona why cant it happen again?
Nona, I fail to understand how did you miss the world events for the last twenty years? Since the Soviet exit from Afghanistan, and the end of Cold War, proxy wars utilizing "non-state" actors have been increasing all over the globe. Have you missed the process of infusion of "Islamic" militants into Bosnia? How did you manage to miss them committing acts of violence against civilians in Moscow, Beslan or Grozny? I put "Islamic" into quotes, as the majority of these groups are moved accross borders via support of foreign countries. They get money, satelite cell phones, vehicles and arms from their sponsors, and not from Allah. Granted, such groups profit from the poverty in any region. They can always attract local mafias, or just plain old bandits that pray on highways. They can prey on them with the aura of religion, but there is nothing religious about their pecuniary motives. The new generation of terrorists have grown following the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. These new generations seem to be driven by revenge, more then anything else. Again, religion may provide the emotional appeal --- but it does not get at the real motivation that drives the actors Georgia has always been a conduit into Russia of various groups. Those brought with them some cash, to make the preaching of violence more appealing then the local immams message of peace. The only difference between then and now is as follows: then, Russia was very carefull not to publicly dress down Georgia. Following the war, there is really no need for that. Caucases is still the target, but the times have changed. In the past, infiltrators could have hoped to get support from the neighborhood, such as Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran. This is no longer the case. Quite the opposite these countries now share intelligence with Russia. Times have changed, but those that use these methods --- having previously been successfull --- keep on trying.
that's not western backed terrorism, but when everyone but the americans back out of afgahnistan they'll probably move on up.there are obviously several countries that would like the USA to lose their world power so you may want to look a little closer to home. i realize america has done some really crappy things. some get out, some don't. just like your own countries.(except the communist ones) i personally believe there is more than one nation involved in starting the recent acts of terrorism. i'm not accusing russia. just a theory.
Bianca Ok…yet again………. The Soviets left Afghanistan because they were BANKRUPT… in other words, they could not afford to keep fighting a war they could never win… The Soviets were in Afghanistan for 10 years, but the US can and will be there for more than a decade… The cold war is over only because there were a few smart individuals in Russia that saw the consequences and impossibilities of the Soviet Union existence and communist failures that would cripple Russia… Russia has no control over any former soviet state and will never impose its will on any of these countries. Georgia will never again be under Russia’s sphere of influence…and neither will Ukraine.
A couple of well-aimed cruise missiles will take care of the CIA, pardon me, "terrorist" training centres and its inhabitants. Gloves are off long time ago! There shouldn't be much mumbo-jumbo about it. The Russian leadership should put their gloomy faces on, get on TV at around 6pm and advise the populus that the armed forces have been ordered to eradicate terrorist threats in the close vicinity to the RF. Something similar to what Clinton, Solana and Bush Junior did the night they started a genocide against Serbs in the Balkans and Arabs in Iraq with one notable difference: the terrorist in Georgia are a direct and very real threat to Russia and its people, while Serbs and Arabs had never been a danger to the NATO NWO hegemonic elite. They were chosen as subjects of precedents upon which the elites were going to build their latest World Order. CIA "Islamic" imports into Bosnia and Serbia (Kosovo) have been wreaking havoc serving not their God but their puppeteers in Langley and Wall St. The same applies to the Islamists currently being trained in the hills of Gruzia.
@Nuta ... Gruzia never should have been under the Russias influence .. we should have left you to the turks
State terrorism and genocide of indigenous people is the shape of Russian imperialism. Basayev and his men who participated in military actions in Abkhazia was trained by Russian Special Forces.
Russia stays were it is. Georgian Task Forces cleaned everything in the Pankisi and Kodori valley and drove back the remaining Chechens into Russia in 2007. Now that there may are terroristic cells in Georgia .... What can I say ? There are plenty in Russia, there are plenty in the US, there are plenty in Germany. Noone is able to do anything against these fanatic mass murderers, especially such dumb governments like the Russian one. Whenever they try to eliminate a cell, the response costs them dozens of officials, administrations and Special Forces servicemen. They even go out and dare ambushing Russian troops in front of citizens right in the mid of a city center and totally destroying them without beeing caught or killed. Security in Russia is vastly below zero and the "authorities" there should rather think about doing anything against that catastrophy than trying to search for alternate enemys, in this case Georgia, which had it's own problems with terrorists like Chechens and Russians.

And what's Russia going to do about it?
