I remember visiting South African President Paul Kruger's small cottage in the Transvaal. His house was filled with mementos and letters of support for the Boer cause from all around the world...including from Russia ! President Kruger thought so highly of these letters of support that he kept them as keepsakes...so that future generations of Boers would not forget who their friends were during times of strife. The Boer war was the first time a pan-European effort was made to obstruct colonial aggression. The historical fact is that the Russians were on the side of the Boers - a fact that modern Boer scholars are not unaware of. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Kruger
