A CNN senior editor is the latest high-ranking casualty in the virtual world of social blogging where a personally-held sentiment is becoming the ticket to an early retirement and worse.

RT should hire her! This is what it means to be an Arab in the U.S and have strong views.

CNN are just the another PR department for the US establishment. Is there any free mainstream press in the US?

When America's Constitution was written, the founders deliberately left out any mention of education. You'll not find anything pertaining to education and government being linked together. The Founders knew government was an opinion and the only thing that government would allow to be "taught" would be it's opnion. Freedom of speech would allow people the freedom to learn what to say. That history of America shows what happens as soon as government gets its claws in education. Propaganda replaces enlightenment. Stimulus response becomes the order of the day. People are stimulated to react to the "teachings" of government. "When I blowa da whis, everybody offa da dock". People had liberty which is a right from God, their only source. Now we cheer freedom which is merely status. The freedom to think and act and speak as government dictates. "Land of the free" yeah! free to don a governmental collar.

Robert Bridge presents some incredibly dumb and na... Vis merïve opinions attached to the reporting of the news of Octavia Nasr and Helen Thomas' being fired from their respective jobs. Doesn't RB realize that these institutions, surely like his own RT, are nothing but propaganda factories? And is he not able to acknowledge that Nasr and Thomas had quietly compromised themselves by taking on the positions as mouthpieces for these propaganda outlets in the first place? The fact that they have for so long kept up appearances is the reproachable sin here, not that they are kicked out for being unable to remain with the company line. Also, assertions of what the Internet "was meant to be like" is pure wihful thinking. The Internet is what it is and has developed organically since its inception. There was never a group of founders who proclaimed what the Internet was supposed to be. A lot of people had aspirations in various directions, but to assert what Bridge does is, again, naïve.

In every country in this world you are free to hold any views you like. Because no technology yet exists that can read your mind. In no country in this world are you automatically free to express your views. CNN just illustrated a general point. You can say what you like but if your employer doesn't like it there goes your job. As for CNN and the rest of the heritage media they are in a fight for survival with the net. And can afford no additional political complications. Here is a question for those at CNN. If the twitter had expressed a positive opinion of Ariel Sharon would the reporter have been fired? I doubt it. Though in the eyes of millions Sharon was a war criminal(Goggle the Israeli invasion of Lebanon)

It's quite telling that this CNN editor and the great Helen Thomas, the only independent voice in the White House media sheep flock, were both sacked for comments that don't conform to Israel's position. No wonder the US media and politicians are so biased on the subject of the Middle East.

Well done! She should go. Parisa Khosravi who fired Octavia Nasr is an Iranian woman who has suffered at the hands of Hezbollah, so she knows what she is doing. Forget about the CNN, US and terrorism that they created and finance. Just think that the so called Ayatollah (God's voice) was the head of Hezbollah ( God's party) !!!! Go and demand your freedom of speech now and say you don't believe in that!! Watch your neck though!! As for the so called "humanitarian" side of Hezbollah, building schools, hospitals, yes with Iranian money everything is possible. The Iranian people want to use their freedom of expression and ask why they don't build hospitals in Iran and ouch, watch your neck!!! As why hezbollah was created, the US wanted to pull out of the Lebanon to let Israel and Iran come in. they needed some organization to bomb the US military base so they would have a reason to pull out so Hezbollah was created and 218 american soldiers killed!! Not long after Ariel Sharon came in and we know what he did there and no one could put any questions to the US as they were not there when it all happened!!!

Helen Thomas wasnt fired for just her one comment about Israel and her firing had nothing to do with the internet. Everyone in America is free to have an opinion, but when a socialist "reporter" says things so stupid and racist they discredit themselves and the companies that they work for. Please check your suggestion that it is the internet that is causing these so called reporters to be fired for their opinions. Look at newspapers and television news prior to the internet and see how many reporters or editors were fired for opinions or comments that they made. A good example of poor reporting is the interview by RT with the leader of the new black panther party, Dr. Shabazz, which was very weak. This guy has stated several times that their organization wants to be paid reparations for past wrongs against blacks (slavery in America ended in 1865 and was brought to America by Britain and Spain, there were even white slaves and black slave owners). All American's have the same rights under our laws, opportunities for education, religion choices, etc. America doesnt have "political" prisoners, unless they broke other laws acting on their political beliefs. In this interview Shabazz stated that blacks and whites cant get along peacefully so they seek a nation or their own, that all blacks need to join together to seek their own justice, that Tea Party members are racists and are purchasing guns at an all time high because we have a black family in the white house, and that his party is at war and must prepare for war. Even illegal immigration is a racist white man's issue and is against blacks as well according to the doctor. All of these rantings by Dr. Shabazz went without challenge by the woman interviewing him for facts to back up his statements. This is a misrepresentation of the American culture by an activist, racist, hate group, not the typical American.

I disagree, Bud. Helen Thomas's firing had EVERYTHING to do with the Internet! What was the first thing that rabbi did when did after he got the video? He put it on his website, which then registered a million+ hits in days. What is strange about the rabbi's move, however, is that he did not upload it to his site until AFTER the Turkish aid ship was attacked by Israeli commandos they realized they had a nice smokescreen away from the scandal ?
