Ukraine needs Russia a lot more than Russia needs Ukraine. I guess the Russian administration will continue to play "hard to get", which may help Ukrainian voters decide which are the more sensible choices in next year's elections. More abuse and nationalist rhetoric or cooperation and trade.

Ukraine's Yuchenko regimes anti-Russia policy made absolutely no sense other than the fact that he was doing the deeds of the masters who oversaw and helped put him in power Soros, Berezovsky, Mark Brezinski, Republicans abroad, etc. Why sabotage Russian energy transit routes through Ukraine into Europe when a large part of the GDP depended on transit revenue from gas into Europe and pursue an anti-Russian policy when half the population is ethnic Russian and it’s major trading partner other than the EU.

Yuschenko will be out come the January elections. This must be postering for who might take his place. Anyone but Yuschenko will be better for Russia - Ukraine relations. As for Yuschenko, he can take his CIA wife and go back to washington.

@ johnx, Yuschenko's anti-Russia policy was paid for, as you say, by Americans. But we have been running out of money, and it looks like we are cutting back our subsidy. Even before the election Yuschenko got "No Sale" from Bush in a visit where Yuschenko was asking for more support. This was right after the Georgian war, and there were pictures of Y heading home looking unhappy. Biden may have promised support during his recent visit, but I bet it was with a lot of vague language.
